What should I do with my Citi Dividend?

So I recently got the email with the 2015 categories for the Citi Dividend, and I'm trying to decide what I should do with the card. None of the categories seem useful to me (except maybe Q4), but I hate to PC it because the 2016 categories might be useful, and since the Dividend card is no longer offered, I don't know if I could PC it to something more useful (Double Cash?) and PC back if the 2016 categories are useful, or if I should SD the card and charge a little bit to it every few months, or if I should just close it. The reason I'm thinking about closing it is that I have the BoA Cash Rewards card, and because I'm part of the Preferred Rewards program, I get 1.25% cash back instead of 1%, so it doesn't seem worth maintaining a separate account for a small benefit (.75% additional cash back). I have also been happier with my Discover and AMEX cards than with Citi, and I give AMEX, Discover, and BoA most of my swipes (I also don't frequently use the Barclaycards I have because of the CL, and I hate playing the "Let's pay this thing every week" game, even though they are my best APR). As it was, I only used the Dividend less than 5 times a month (normally 1-3 times per month). What do you guys think?

I think by now it should be painfully obvious that the categories will NEVER be useful. PC it to Double Cash or close it (even though that's considered blasphmey on this forum)

Re: What should I do with my Citi Dividend?

Categories have been roughly the same over the last couple years. Don't hold you breath to 2016 that it will be better.

Although, having a convo with the rep when I did my PC (we know how Citi CSRs are full of accurate knowledge) I was told that the Dividend card would be relaunched next year. No date or what was changing according to her.

Re: What should I do with my Citi Dividend?

I ended up PCing to the Double Cash, and I was also able to get an APR reduction from 17.99 to 15.99%. I'm pretty happy with getting both of those done, and I think the card might be more useful to me now.

Re: What should I do with my Citi Dividend?

I'm leaving my Citi Dividend where it is. I doubt it will get better, but it is nice to have those "legacy" cards and occasionally the issuer will make a sweet offer to switch.

I was going to garden... Honest!

Re: What should I do with my Citi Dividend?

Normally, I would agree with the consensus and say PC it to a Double Cash card, but I have heard a lot of rumors that the Dividend card is going to be overhauled, so it wouldn't surprise me if within the next year it is going to start offering more useful categories à la Chase Freedom and Discover It. I say sock drawer the card for a little while and see what the near future brings.

Re: What should I do with my Citi Dividend?

My Dividend card went unused for a long time. PC'd to DoubleCash as soon as I could. But it could be uselful if they relaunch the card with different rewards and maybe not having to redeem $50 at a time.
