Re: What should be my 2nd and 3rd cards?

Now is a good time to get a nice mix from different CCCs and then let them all age togther givng you a nice strong average of of account down the road.

I'd want:

Something AMEX Credit(BCE) and something charge(Green when the new deal rolls out or Gold now)

Something Discover like Discover It

and I would want another MC/Visa option.

I would probably get one card every three months to maximize SUB's.

Under this plan you would have a nice mix between 5 cards.    CC wise you could be good to go for a while and still have room to pick up a card or two in the future  - maybe taking advantage of a nice BT offer.

I would complete this all with a nice black mass but hey I'm Lucifer and that's just me.

Good luck !

Re: What should be my 2nd and 3rd cards?

Why does everybody say i need a 4th card with visa?

I will have a boa cash rewards mastercard, a amex, a chase freedom unlimited VISA so i have 1 card of every provider, why do i need more visa?

UNIFY sees good but the begginer card, clasic only goes up tp 5k, and then i ask for an upgrade right?

Are the credit unions easier or harder to get accepted than banks, amex chase etc?

can you please tell me the order in wich i should apply, ie which one first? ( i suppose the easier to get first) And what minimum score you advise me for each?

Re: What should be my 2nd and 3rd cards?

Three is a nice number of cards for several reasons. But at least two of them should be Visa or Mastercard products due to the lesser acceptance of AMEX and Discover. If you want to have both AMEX and Discover, you should have four cards total in order to also have two Visa/Mastercards.

I would just ask for the variable rate platinum Visa.

I don't know. I've been rejected by both.

If you're interested in business spending, go for an Amex business card.

If you're interested in getting actual cash, go for a credit union Platinum card.

You're not ready for Chase IMHO.

Re: What should be my 2nd and 3rd cards?

He's right you should get in with a credit union. I got a 3000$ sl from dcu platinum last June. I only had 2 credit cards for 3 months prior. Fast forward to now and i just this month got an American Express gold card after 4 apps denied in last year by amex(Ed card, gold, and bce) the point is u won't get in with maybe the hardest bank chase right away.. so get a card with a decent sl (credit union). So other cards will be more favorable when you can get approved for them. Imo

Re: What should be my 2nd and 3rd cards?

Nobody can tell you what's easiest.
That is a variable that changes with each applicant and each credit history file.
And it might be a good idea to know your exact credit score and current report before applying for anything.
But if cold app'ing based on the information you have provided then AMEX is the card issuer to establish a long term relationship with. The earlier the better.
But I'd definitely try their pre-qualification site before anything.

Re: What should be my 2nd and 3rd cards?

I was in the same boat as you with only the BofA card until this year. I'm 20 with ~770 scores across all three bureaus and about 2 years of my own credit history (more with AU). I decided I was going to expand my fleet to 3 cards as well. For my second card I got the Discover it Student Cash Back which is good for the rotating categories and then this month I went ahead and got the Uber Visa which is a great year-round savings card. I'm most excited about the year-round 4% back on dining as that's what most of my spend is monthly (although I'm trying to change that Smiley Wink )
