My grandpa has the PRG. Amex just updated his monthly FICO score (11/29) and it's 734. He's score since jumped fifteen points due to paying down some cards.. If he applies for the SPG or Platinum would they do a fresh SP? Or use the one from last month.
Thank you
If it doesn't say he's pre-approved then it's better to wait then? He has a trip this month and wanted to put spending towards a sign up bonus. I was just curious if applying would initiate a fresh SP
He was just approved for the PRG in October. Meet the minimum spending for the bonus this week. Interesting is that it says he's pre-qualified for the Blue Cash and Everyday cards. But he's eyeing the Platinum and SPG. I'll ask him to apply over the phone incase they have different information

From what I’ve read and sort of experienced. The BCE and ED cards have stricter underwriting criteria.
I believe they all have pretty much the same underwriting criteria.
OP- if he's not pre-approved and denied there should be no pull. They would use whatever the last SP score was. I app-ed for a EDP a while ago with no pre-approval and was approved without a HP. Amex called me and specifically said we will approve without a HP.

Was this his first AMEX card? Reason I ask is because for new members AMEX likes to use the same score they applied for for up to 3 months after an approval from what I've seen.
