What kind of CL do you think I can get on the Sallie Mae?

Does anyone think I could qualify for the following cards?

Chased Sapphire Preffered

Citi Prestige

Citi Thank You Preffered

Citi Executive Advantage

US Bank Cash

And also what do you think about Chase Freedom?

Thanks

Hmm.  Couple of things:

Sallie Mae that was mentioned appears to be pretty generous with CL's compared to other national bank cards, it's not a bad one at all... I actually just picked one up and I'm incredibly picky about what cards I apply for compared to almost everyone on the forums.

Don't know why you want the CSP as you don't travel; I don't know the Citi lineup at all (it's a blind spot for me) but two of those sound travelish as well.

The big questions are: 1) income, 2) assets, 3) what do you spend your money on?

First two are self-explanatory, the third is where picking the right reward package makes sense vis a vis an Amex BCP which is an excellent card doesn't do you much good if you eat at restaurants all the time, and even the BCE (or BOFA 1-2-3) might be a better choice if your grocery bill isn't that high... or the Sallie Mae card already mentioned if you really don't drive / grocery much.

General thoughts, there's a lot more which goes into underwriting than just one's FICO score: while you have a pretty score, that's about as far as it goes from an underwriting perspective on your current file: I personally wouldn't try shooting the moon in this case, but YMMV and I may be too conservative as I've never been denied for a card yet.

For default spending it's hard to beat the Fidelity Amex at 2%, and if you can't get that, the Cap One Quicksilver at 1.5% is a very good card as well.

If you don't mind the revolving reward categories, the Chase Freedom you asked about is an excellent card in the same way as the Discover IT is, and frankly better for you on what you describe than the CSP (which is absolutely an excellent card but if you don't travel it's sort of pointless).

Anyway, go do a rough budget estimate on what your monthly or annual expenses are for various things, and that'll allow people to give you much better tailored advice.

Freedom is good. That's been my best-behaved card in the last 5+ years, even when it wasn't a Freedom yet.

Sallie Mae MC is tempting me, but so is Discover (which won't help you since you just got it).

But don't take my word for it, my wallet and my history are not yours Smiley Happy

The ones you listed are probably not good fits, as Revelate mentioned. They sound cool and are impressive to show people (or could be, if you're around the wrong people). One of them (CSP) is on my wish list even, but I travel a bit.

As an aside, if you're thinking US Bank, search these forums for ARS, IDA, and Innovis. I believe they're well-known for using the second tier CRAs. But either way, get your annual report from those three, and probably hold off on your five listed cards until you have a good specific reason for wanting them.

Make sure you've checked all three genuine FICO scores; you have Equifax so check Trans-Union and Experian. Make sure they say FICO, and not "educational score" or the like.

If you don't need more revolving credit, you may find 6 months of gardening (until after your 6th Discover statement cuts and reports) to help your odds with a higher grade card, both in approval and initial CL/APR. 12 months will do even more for you. And letting that CO fall off would be a good thing too.

I know it's hard to resist... I'm finally back over 700 this week, and my AOR wish list has already been whittled down from 12 to 8 and will be cut down even farther as I think about what each card would do for me and whether it's worth the temporary hit.

12/29/2015 669/696/706
01/10/2016 698/711/730 but still to and fro a bit

Climbing to 700 and beyond. It's too cold for gardening.

Thanks for the nice answer....

I was thinking of waiting a month or so and that by that time I would have figured out what card to go for next ( with some research and ofcourse from everyone's help here on the forum )

What do you think about the secured cards?  Drop them?  Or wait until I am approved for a couple more before I do?

Here's my questions say I drop the secured cards will the new companies I apply credit with consider those positive trade lines that have been closed or will they just look at score and the new fresh Discover card that I just got?

Freedom was what I kinda wanted before Discover but then went with Discover...

Thanks...

Anyone else wanna drop a opinion please do so thank you all...

What would be the next good move to make.

Just approved by Discover!

Have had two Secured Cards for 2.5 years in great standing....

Applied Bank

First Premier

Discover IT ( just approved)

Should I close the Applied and First Premier ?( If so which one/both/ or none )?  Should I go on  a small App Spree ( If so which cards would be good )?

Discover said my score was 777 with Equifax.

I also have a one other store card with 3000 limit in good standing for two years...

Thank you.

What are the limits on each of those cards, and what store card do you have?

Depending on the answers to that question, your first step may be to ask for credit limit increases.

Then, apply for the Sallie Mae Mastercard, and the US Bank Cash+. If US Bank gives you the Cash Rewards card instead, thats OK for now, you can convert that to the Cash+ later. If you are in a hurry, you can apply for the Fidelity Amex card as well. Then you can start planning for another small application spree 6 months later.

Do you think you might qualify for business cards?
