Snail mail from Barclays
Dear My FICO Family
I wanted to get your feedback on whether any individuals have been successful with getting the annual fee waived or downgraded to The AAdvantage® Aviator® Mastercard ( no annual fee) . This card was a Grandfathered Barclays US Airways Divided Miles Mastercard before after the airline merger . I was one of the few that didn’t mind paying an annual fee in years prior in exchange for 10,000 Anniversary Bonus Miles but with Barclays Increasing the Annual fee and nerfing the main benefit that kept me around and not to mention COVID-19 and not being able to travel $100 is not feasible right now. I just signed up for the Southwest Priority Card in March and Paid that annual fee ($149) already for the SUB and would like to keep this account open.
Very YMMV. Some get the AF wavied. Some people have reported permanent AF waivers on the business version. Some can PC.
In August 2019 I was unable to get either a waiver or a PC, so I just closed it. Not a big problem, as I had been developing a Delta loyalty.

@wasCB14 Thank you so much for your advice.
Glad it worked out for you! An AF waiver and 5k/$1k is a nice retention offer.
Your $6k spend may have helped. I only put about $10 or $20 of spend on mine (and paid the $95 AF) for the 60k miles.

I Called for Aviator Red , former US Airways due to AF posting with no intent to cancel ($6k spend last year). Mentioned that I wanted to cancel due not being able to use benefits due to COVID-19 and also competitor AA Card with no AF by CitiBank. Offered to downgrade to no fee Aviator , Waive AF and in addition Also Offered 5K AA Miles with $1000 spend for 3 months. Spent over 20 minutes on the phone with the agent. Chose annual fee waiver due to no AF card not retaining the same structure of benefits.
Did you provide Barclays with your new mailing address?
My mailing address has not changed in 2 years. Their system is innacurate and quite frankley archaic.
