Ok
Put one end into a bucket of concrete. Wrap it with 30 feet of heavy proof coil chain. Then...Swim with the fishes. Not fire, but still an effective method. You should nickname it Jimmy Hoffa.

Nuke it from orbit! Just closed one with a $1350 limit and will no longer have almost a $9 monthly fee. Once you have a prime card or two, there is no reason to keep preditor one.

I would kick Credit One to the curb, but you do need three revolving accounts for FICO scoring.  I would apply for the Capital 1 Venture card.  Depending on your income, you will likely get 5K to 20K credit limit.

It is better to add a fourth card and then cut loose the one you want to ditch as your scores will drop when you go down below three cards.  So get a new "third card" and then kick the old third card to the street.

I would only do this if its your only option. Why incurr three hard inquiries, let alone, add a 2nd or 3rd capital one card? Not the best choice in my book. See if you can pay 5 bucks and join NASA, their credit limits are high too.

Do agree with the 3 cards

Good luck cancelling this card. I called them and cancelled the card two weeks ago. They refunded the extra money in my card but till today the account is not closed. I'm thinking of calling them up to understand when the closure will happen.

They'll lure you with 6 months AF waiver, 3 months waiver, so on so forth...don't fall prey to those gimmicks and just CLOSE it !

Hmm interesting.... When you find out when the card will actually close, can you share what they tell you? Thanks!

Re: What to do with my Creditonebank card?

Well I just called to close it and they said I'm all squared away I don't know owe anything and there's no annual fee because I had it waived and I should receive a letter in the mail about it I will check daily to make sure this actually was done correctly. I have five inquiries across my reports two of them disappear in February I think I will go in the garden until then to get my third card.

Re: What to do with my Creditonebank card?

I am positioning myself to do this also.

I had two accounts, second one with a much lower interest rate and no account setup fee with low AF paid monthly.

First account with creditone was one of my oldest accounts after starting my rebuild with zero accounts.

I have 3 months of waived fees on both accounts.  I have a small balance to be paid off in September, fees waived till end of November so plenty of time.

I plan to mail a notice using CMRR directing them to close both accounts as of a specified date, and to mark them 'closed at clients request' or whatever the correct wording is, so that there is no mistake as to my intentions.

Credit One was very helpful (but expensive) in my early rebuilding efforts but they have outlived that purpose and do not seem to want to adapt to my current needs, so I am going to jettison them off of my CRs soon.

I am partial to the melting down method of the cards and then perhaps the 'anchor test'.  I live near a very large river and might try to see if the melted down pile would sink or not.   Also thinking not environmentally friendly to the fish so maybe just repeated applications of fire until recognition would be impossible and then burial at the landfill without honors.

I am preapproved for the venture and the regular Quicksilver on their website however I don't want a hard-pull across the board as I have five inquiries right now on my reports with two of them falling off in February

Re: What to do with my Creditonebank card?

I live in Saint Pete Florida I think the salt from the ocean should wash away the card numbers. Credit one served their purpose they gave me a card when nobody would and yes it's aggravating to pay for a Cli and wait five days for payment to post but I am officially done with the JV onto the varsity team!

Called them. Strangely, they confirmed that my account is "deactivated" and no longer in use but I can reopen it any time !

The rep also confirmed that no annual fees or any other fees will be applicable as the card is not active. Double checked and said that "the card is closed" Smiley Happy

I don't understand this. I'm able to login to my account, get daily alerts in email on balance, etc.

Is this normal? Has anyone else faced same issue?
