What to think about status and account managers input on application chances

I had applied for a cap one credit card and it has been pending for about a week now and today when I called there Backdoor number and talk to account manager he said that it was still in pending status but also told me that nothing appears on his screen were it would usually list reasons a app could be denied and says that most likely I will be approved but no guarantee?????????? What should I expect if approved a low crap one credit limit or maybe something substantial I already hav
E a secured card from them since July with amazing payment history sometimes paying three times a month with high use always pif every month if not more. I just want any opinions on what outcome may be and what to expect....

what are your FICO scores?  Do you have any negatives on your credit report?  Did you use their pre-qualify option on their site or just cold app?

My entire response just got deleted.  What I basically wrote was we can only venture a guess if you got approved.  It seems since you have no baddies, then your chances are high.  Do you currently carry any balances?  How many inquiries do you have on each of your reports?  They will most likely pull all 3 CBs and  look at all 3 reports and FICOs (FAKOs = fake, so those numbers mean nothing).  Your starting limit will probably be low because that's just Cap One.  You may be entered into their Credit Steps program where you're guaranteed at least one CLI with monthly usage and on-time payments with the card.

Re: What to think about status and account managers input on application chances

I just got off the phone with cap one and was just told I was approved for 500 cl with credit steps on 7th statement increase to 750 then on 10th statement another 500 cli to bring it to 1250 and then from there I am free to ask for cli whenever I feel I want it but I think I will just let it hang out at 1250 for 6 months then call back and get cli to 2500 because I will be paying balance in full every month with very low utilization

That's a great plan on your part, however you may find that Cap 1 is less than cooperative. The greatest majority of us have found that when you receive a starter card from Cap 1 that whatever limit they end you up with (if in steps) is where you will reside for the long term. Granted there have been a few exceptions on this board, but for most of us it is " No CLI for you, now get out of here".
