My first cards (not as an AU) were the Amex green and BofA visa.  I got both when I turned 18.  BofA gave me a $56k starting limit.

I got nothing'!

I am sure, at some point in time, there is a wonderful story that could be shared about one's 1st card (a revolver) having a SL of $56K from BoA - 😉 wink, wink.

@Credit4Growth   Nothing exciting:  I was an AU on my parents' Amex card so I benefited from their sterling credit history.  I was actually disappointed with the $56k SL because my brother's was much higher.

Disappointed with $56k SL on your very first card? Heck, I don't think I'll EVER see a limit that high in my life! Let alone a starting limit...

@OmarGB9   It's all relative, isn't it?  The only other limit I knew about was my brother's which was $64k or 69k, so mine seemed low in comparison.

Phillips 66 MC for me. I believe it was a $300 limit. I burned that card decades ago.

Re: What was your very first card?

My very first card was a chase Freedom. I was told I was building credit off of my mother's citicard but I was not building any credit! I never bothered to check my score until I was 28 and realized I had no credit besides my student loans and was hovering at about 630 credit score. I wanted to build credit quickly to make up for all that lost time and these forums told me chase was a great bank to start because of their rules against too many applications. I applied to the freedom and was approved for $500. After 6 months I asked for a credit increase and was bumped to $1500. After a year of consistent on time payments I applied for a Chase Sapphire and was approved for $12,000. Slow journey but my fico score has climbed and so has my credit limit.

Re: What was your very first card?

1986 when I was in college with Ohio Citizens bank that was acquired by National City then PNC.    This was before there were rewards cards and it had an annual fee of I believe $20.   I think the credit line was only around $300
