When at first you don't succeed w/BOA try again!!

Called BOA tonight to ask for a CLI on my platinum plus visa $1500 CL, had it for 7 months, perfect payment history.  Just called the # on the back of the card, spoke with a very nice csr, gave her all my info HHI, rent, etc., she said they needed to transfer me to a credit analyst.  She gave me the #866-866-7002 in case I got disconnected.
The next lady who answered, you could just tell by her tone of voice that this wasn't going to be a good call.  She asked me the same questions HHI, rent, etc., then said she had to look at some things.  I'm on hold for a couple of minutes, she comes back and asks some questions, I have a paid charge off from 5 years ago and 1 30 day late on a car payment from 4 years ago.  After being put back on hold, she stated that she could only offer me a $500 CLI because the 30 day late was from Feb. of 2007.  I dispute this, tell her no, the late is from July of 2004, she is adamant, the late was from 2007, check your experian report she tells me.  I said ok, I just happen to have one from July, let me bring it up so we can compare.  She said she wasn't going to argue with me, I was reading my report wrong, and that was all she could offer, call back after 6 more months of good payment history and maybe we could do something for you she tells me.

Well I hung up, very frustrated, and for a second I was going to give up, but then, I knew I was right, so I called the 866-866-7002 back.  Told the guy who answered what had just happened, that I was confused and wanted to make sure they were seeing the same information that I was.  He confirmed that the previous csr was wrong about when the late occurred and that the $500 CLI that she had given me was ridiculous based on my paymnet history with the card and the fact that I didn't have any negative info on my cr for the past 4 years.  Pretty sad that people who deal with credit can't read a credit report correctly!!!!!!

He asked me what I wanted, I said make my CL $4000, and I'll be happy, he laughed and said no problem.  I guess I could have asked for more, but I didn't want to be greedy.
So, all in all, I went from $1500 to $4000.  Took more time then I would have liked, but I'm happy!!

Just goes to show with BOA persistance pays off!!

Congrats!

BOA is extremely generous and this has been proven time and time again. Use the card properly and call back in a few months for another.

Congrats on a nice big CLI. Sure does pay to not take the first answer you're given. You read the first analyst's attitude/tone correctly, and called back to get someone you could work with. Good job. Smiley Happy

Re: When at first you don't succeed w/BOA try again!!

I'm trying to be patient w/BoA and my secured card. I had one over limit in April because my car ran completely out of gas; I paid it as soon as I got home, but it didn't post until the first weekday. Never been late and never been over, but BoA says because of that April overage, I can't even be considered until January. Okay, but my dad has never been late and had his card as long as mine and they won't unsecure that one either. Plus they're reporting my high balance at 594 and it's only 534. Not to mention a SLEW of banking problems, one that made me write the BBB (they never responded). All of this and they can't overlook one overage? GRAH! Well, now I have accounts w/USAA and Navy Fed, and if I have to kiss butt, I'd rather kiss theirs.

whats you do wrong especially in this day of age of credit crackdown... it's a long process to get back in good graces.  Can't blame the bank for that.
