Hi folks,
I just got my Capital One Venture card and got $3,000 limit, which is very low in comparison to my other cards. To get SUB, I need to meet $4,000 expense in three months. I just paid my apartment rent of $1400 with it and next one I can pay after 15-20 days. Instead of filling it 90% now, can I ask Capital One to increase my limit from $3,000 to bigger ?
Or should I wait for first payment to made and then ask them? It shows me :
First Due Date - Oct 2, 2023
Minimum Payment Due - Will be calculated after Sep 7, 2023
Thanks
Congrats on the card, but Capital one is every six months. You can try through.
It can happen in as little as 30 days as >this post< from ealier this year confirms. You can request a CLI from Cap One any time, and as often as you like. But, they generally won't approve any more frequently than one CLI request every 6 months. Of course this is all dependent on your profile so YMMV.
Asking a carrier pigeon to deliver your request will likely be just as effective.

just make your payment now, no need to wait for the due date
even better if you push that payment to Cap1 from your bank as opposed to having cap1 pull it themselves
but yeah, while it is possible for some profiles to get super early CLI's, I certainly wouldn't expect or rely on it < 1% chance
I would just go ahead and push that payment now to avoid having the statement close with a high balance
If I do expense, pay it before due date, then do another expense and pay it before due date. Does it consider as expense, which is needed like 'spend $4000 in first three months', when it even doesn't reflects in statement?

Yes... anything you charge on the card counts. You can pay it down as often as you like in order to keep spending.

it will reflect on the statement, just not in the form of a balance, because you paid it off.
so it would look like this:
balance: $1400
charges: $2800
payments: $1400
purchases:
rent: $1400
rent: $1400
so while your balance is only $1400 because you already made a payment of $1400, the amount you spent $2800 is still tracked and counts for your SUB bonus goal of $4000 in spend
Thanks a lot. I am clear on this now :-)
Use it as much as possible and pay it every WEEK.
Cap One can grow regardless of reputation.
