When does Discover start reporting?

I have been waiting for my first Discover statement to post because on my account and via email it was indicated that the statement would be available after 7/23/16. Via online chat and on my account as of this morning, it now is supposed to be available after 8/23/16. I am actually bummed about this because I wanted the statement to cut and Discover to report it, so I could start showing payment history with them. Even though the statement didn't cut, I went ahead and paid the current balance today. Do you think Discover will report at all? Should I ask them to? Will it make any difference? I haven't even received any 3B alerts letting me know that a new account has been added to any of the CRAs yet. I am just so eager to get my payment history going, and hopefully see some movement in my scores. I just want change, and I am trying to be patient but this is killing me!

Thank you! That's about 17 days, and it's only been about 13 for me. Maybe sometime this week then...

Re: When does Discover start reporting?

My Discover account was opened on 6/22 and first reported on 7/4... guess they even work on holidays Smiley Happy

I was surprised that they reported so quickly, but I imagine it has to do with the date the account was opened.  Do all Discover accounts by default run until the 1st of the month and report a couple of days after the 1st?  I know when I talked to CS they said they could move my statement close/due date if I wanted them to, but default was the 1st.  That said, I imagine that if anyone opens their Discover account very close to the end of the month that it could technically report a few days later after the 1st passes, assuming they didn't change their date with CS.

Did you use it?

The first bill is usually due ~ 30 days after you first start using the card. All of my first statements have cut 10-12 days after I started using the card.

Re: When does Discover start reporting?

I got notification that my Discover amount was reported to Experian on 7/27/16, and I was approved for the account on 7/9/16, just to provide some more data points for anyone that might have the same question. The timeframe for me is consistent with other members' replies, so thanks to all! Smiley Happy

You're going to need to adjust your expectations.  The time to first report with any creditor can vary and can take up to several months.  Building/rebuilding credit is a long, slow process.

With all due respect, I don't think you read my latest post where I reported that Discover has reported.

But we're not talking about "any creditor" we're talking about Discover, specifically, as the title of the thread suggests.  And, from the datapoints revealed within this thread, it seems that Discover for the most part tends to report within WEEKS of the account opening, not "several months" as you generalized.
