Just got approved for the venture one from capital one. now my question is: i plan use it a lot for the first three months. when will be a good time to ask for CLI after how many months?
thanks
first time with capital one so i dont know
I will be real curious if they actually hand out SP cli or CLI's at all on these recent round of approvals at >10k+ or if that is the limit you are set at with for life.

If someone really pushes their $10k+ limit (meaning $9k monthly on a $10k CL) and PIF on a regular basis, Cap One will probably grant a CLI. People with that level of spend, however, are likely not in this cohort.

Agree don't see people using say even 5k of their CL each month on there Cap1.. Thus I don't think you will see CLI's as you have sufficent credit already with them will be the reason. This isn't going to be many peoples main goto card, it is mainly padding for most is my guess and the spend bonus other then that blah card being the venture. QS could be decent if people did get the 10k's on that although still hard to push 5k through that a month for most people for them to justify a CLI. I think what you got is what you most likely will have if the history of Cap1 is any indication.

Well, as a point of reference, I've had my CapOne $10k limit since 2003, through the credit crisis, BT and paid down, running more heavy BT through it. Recently asked for a CLI, first time ever, and was denied for, basically, not enough usage.
That is the basis of my statement that if one runs $9k through a $10k card on a regular basis, CapOne might consider a CLI. However, these recent CL that are being granted seem to already anticipate a certain spend level that the cardholder has demonstrated, and build in a buffer above that, thus, I will be very surpised if any of these large CapOne limits are ever increased for the cardholder, ever. Ever.
thats intresting. ill be happy as long as is my highest limit card. once others equal it or pass it ill be asking for an increase.

Did you go through EO? The online CLI request often tells me I can't have one due to lack of use of the card. This is true however, since at most I run several hundred through a 10k card and some months I don't use it at all. I haven't tried the EO other than the first time when I went from 5k to 10k. Back then it was one of my two only cards so it saw pretty heavy use though.
