When to Merge Capital One Card for Highest Limit?

When is it better to merge a Capital One card for chances of a higher limit?

A. With recently approved card ($1K QS One), wait for first increase (possibly 6 months if in credit steps)

B. With recently approved card, merge ASAP

The issue is the current Platnium card has a low $500 limit (originally $300) and won't increase due to recent CLI with credit steps in January). Any thoughts?

A merge will reset CLI date.

The account to be closed must have a 0 balance, no pending transactions, and be at least 6 months old.

I'd recommend doing a CLI on both cards first for maximum impact.
