I am trying to determine when I should apply for the Chase World of Hyatt. I will be under 5/24 in late June and, ideally, would like to apply then. However, the statement copied from the "Offer Details" on the card website and pasted below has me unsure what I should do. If my open date is July 1st, I may not get my Free Night Award until as late as September each year. I am most likely to want to use the Free Night Award in July or August, which has me thinking that, though I would like to apply as soon as possible, it might be best to do so on or around September 1st. Am I missing something? One cannot change his or her anniversary date, correct? Is this what you would do given my circumstances?
"Please allow up to 10 weeks after your cardmember anniversary each year for your Free Night Award to be issued to you."
Based on the reasoning you've laid out, the course of action seems clear. I might also point out the free night is typically good for one year from the date it's issued, so you could always carry it to the time of year you'd like to use it.

Thanks for the reply, @TMDSCT. Yes, the Free Night Award is good for a year, but, if I applied in late June or around July 1st, I may not get the Free Night Award until September and I would have to use it by the following June. It seems like, even though one technically has a year to use the Free Night Awards, he or she is unable to do so for up to two and a half months between the anniversary night and actually receiving the Free Night Award.
I'm not exactly sure when my awards post, but they expire two months after my account anniversary date.

I spoke with a Chase representative who transferred me to Hyatt. A Hyatt representative indicated that the Free Night Award expires 12 months after being issued, not 12 months from one's card anniversary date. Maybe I should have known or assumed this, but I did not. The complication is that it could take up to 10 weeks to receive a Free Night Award, but the representative indicated that, on average, it is more like four weeks.

I can tell you from experience that they're totally serious about the 10 weeks. It takes quite a long time for the free night award to show up.
