When to pull the Amex trigger?

I'm pretty satisfied with my current wallet, but my goal card is an Amex.

I have only one baddie that deletes in September (Credit One CO).

AAoA is 13 months due to opening too many store cards in February.

No late pays or over limits.

Util is right at 30% and sinking by about 2% each month, but I have the means to lower it significantly more if needed.

I've made too many mistakes by lurking here and not asking enough questions, so I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on strategy re: when to app, what card(looking at everyday card) and any data points that might be helpful. I don't plan to app until the derog falls off, but I'm trying to prepare.

Welcome to the forum

Which everyday card BCE or the newer version?

Score Fico only?

How many store cards and when did you open them?

How many current TL's?

Question I'm not asking newbies Lol

Why do you wnat the card and how will it benefit you?

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Which everyday card BCE or the newer version? I was looking the new silvery one.

Score Fico only? Current Fico 8 from myfico monitoring are EX 648 TU 671 EQ 653 (EX & EQ haven't quite caught up in reporting as much data as my TU)

How many store cards and when did you open them? 6 store cards...5 in February and one in March

How many current TL's? 5 major CCs totalling 6550 and 6 store cards totalling 6550

Question I'm not asking newbies Lol

Why do you wnat the card and how will it benefit you? The member rewards are suited my interests and those apple rewards would appear to rack up quicker than my Barclay Apple card.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Which everyday card BCE or the newer version? I was looking the new silvery one. Got it ...good card

Score Fico only? Current Fico 8 from myfico monitoring are EX 648 TU 671 EQ 653 (EX & EQ haven't quite caught up in reporting as much data as my TU) Amex will pull EX so that's the important score to follow

How many store cards and when did you open them? 6 store cards...5 in February and one in March Live and learn and you expressed your regrets ...

How many current TL's? 5 major CCs totalling 6550 and 6 store cards totalling 6550

Question I'm noW asking newbies Lol

Thank you in advance for any help.

Stick with your plan and I think you'll be fine but don't app until scores are in the 660 range for best results

Good luck

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: When to pull the Amex trigger?

Thank you so much for the information. It was so nice to have some sort of idea as to scores. I've looked up the pulls but they seem to be all over the place.

Re: When to pull the Amex trigger?

99% of the time Amex will get EX and you're very welcome

Re: When to pull the Amex trigger?

This question interests me too because I'm stumped at the approvals I see on here. For example I saw earlier someone got prequals for multiple cards from them with scores in the low 600's with multiple baddies and collections. They got an ED card. Then I see others in the mid to high 600's or higher and can't get one from them. I have a high 600's score and don't get any prequals with only one baddie late 1 month payment from a paid car loan in 2010. I can't figure them out lol!

Re: When to pull the Amex trigger?

Are you prequalified? If so, I would try. I just got a ed with a low 600 score and a few baddies remaining. I was terrified this was a joke, but I showed up on their prequal as well as ck and cardmatch (I know not reliable).
