Are you prequalified? If so, I would try. I just got a ed with a low 600 score and a few baddies remaining. I was terrified this was a joke, but I showed up on their prequal as well as ck and cardmatch (I know not reliable).

Congrats on that! That is a good example lol. Actually, it's quite similar to the one I mentioned seeing a couple of hours ago???  I'm going to check to see if there are any pre-quals for me again......

Re: When to pull the Amex trigger?

Well I've got an unexpected update on this! Shortly after posting, I received notification that my dispute with my baddie resulted in deletion from guess who? EX!

I lost my mind for a minute and immediately apped and got the 14 day message with the idea in mind that if I got denied, I'd re-app in 6 months after my new accounts aged a bit.

It literally wasn't 5 minutes later that I was searching what the 14 day message usually means & I got an approval email from AMEX for the ED card! I've only got an SL of $1,000, but I'm so excited still that I feel like my heart is going to burst out of my chest. All I've ever wanted was to get my foot in the door with AMEX.

I know it's not much, but I'm happy to sit in the garden for a really really long time now. Thank you to all of you that help us less experienced in credit!

Edited to add:I was not prequalified on the site for anything.

Lol imagine that

Congrats you now have the card you wanted hours later now proceed:

To the GC and tell them MJ sent you for the Diamond plan

The Amex will grow so take care of it and welcome to the Amex family

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

I'm pretty satisfied with my current wallet, but my goal card is an Amex.

I have only one baddie that deletes in September (Credit One CO).

AAoA is 13 months due to opening too many store cards in February.

No late pays or over limits.

Util is right at 30% and sinking by about 2% each month, but I have the means to lower it significantly more if needed.

I've made too many mistakes by lurking here and not asking enough questions, so I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on strategy re: when to app, what card(looking at everyday card) and any data points that might be helpful. I don't plan to app until the derog falls off, but I'm trying to prepare.

I would do this:

"stay in the garden til 10/16!"

Sound familiar? Smiley Happy
