Re: When will I get a Chase Freedom CLI?

I've been stuck at the same $3k limit since I was approved a year ago. Sometimes I pay in full and sometimes I do not. However, I ALWAYS pay way more than the minimum. And, I've used that card a lot since it's still under the 0% APR promotion.

How and when will Chase show me some love? I know it's a hard pull so I haven't asked

It's not about love or generosity or just about time.  Creditors do not simply hand out CLI's in exchange for time.  It's all about what your credit profile and income qualify for.  The minimum is irrelevant.  That's just the least you have to pay to keep your account current so you avoid incurring lates at 30+ days.  It is not just a matter of your Freedom account either.  It's your entire credit profile and all the standard factors that matter as far as FICO scoring is concerned.

As for Chase's requirements, those are an entirely separate matter and we don't have such details.

Many around here don't seem to have much luck with auto CLI's or even customer initiated CLI's with Chase but Chase does increase limits.

Don't just be averse to HP's.  HP's are typically a relatively small factor, falling under New Credit above.  That said, those with thin profiles and/or credit profiles with issues can see a bigger impact from an HP.  If that's the case for you then identify the issues with your credit profile and work on them.  An HP isn't the real issue despite the tendency of those around here to think of them as the problem.

I have cards with much higher limit so I just want to see it grow

Creditors and products do not all have the same underwriting requirements.  You cannot just assume that all your limits should be the same or similar or that you should get similar growth from all of them.

Consider that the quarterly spend limit on the 5% categories is only $1,500 anyway.

Chase is making me mad. Why are they so strict? Mine has been $3K Since Feb 6, 2015

Calm down and adjust your expectations.  My FICO 8's (granted, it's not just about score) are much higher than yours and I haven't received a CLI on any Chase card.  All of mine were issued back in 2013.  The reasons probably differ for each of us but "It has been $X since Y" isn't a real reason to expect a CLI.

Wifey has Slate (2013) and Freedom (2014) and she's not seen any luv....

My wife has the UMPE, issued in 2012, and she has received a number of auto CLI's taking it from well under a 4 digit limit to well above the line for 5 digits.

so in other words if I wanted a rotating card I should just go with Discover?

Your call to make if Discover is a better fit.  I find both useful.  Though the Double Cash Back offer on the Discover it is a plus for it while it's around.

Re: When will I get a Chase Freedom CLI?

My Freedom is just turning a year old. It was initially apporved for 4.5k and got a 1k increase when it was about 6 months old. I had just applied for a CSP and was approved for 24k and I got the increase to the Freedom a few day after.I don't know if it was coincidence or not. All I know is I use it and PIF every month. Not a super high CL but it works fine for category spending since its capped at 1.5k a quarter anyway plus it took it into Signature status

I believe banks treat you in a way that your profile dictates. Some folks around here constantly apply for credit and CLI and then want to make the banks the bad guy when it doesn't work out. Banks don't like that stuff and I believe its reflected in their policies and underwriting requirements. I firmly believe that if you keep your utilization in line and don't apply for credit excessively that good things will happen in your banking relationships and your credit score.

Re: When will I get a Chase Freedom CLI?

We have had the Slate and the Freedom 12 months @ 3500.  Still no love.  After the 0% expires, We will only use the freedom for the 5% categories.

Otherwise......No.......

Re: When will I get a Chase Freedom CLI?

They opened mine with a $9K limit. Three or four months down the line I spent about $7K, made a large payment and then spread the rest out into the 0% APR promotion. Two months after the large payment they gave me an auto CLI of $2K. Been using about 2K per month and PIF so no more luv.

Re: When will I get a Chase Freedom CLI?

I've had chase freedom for around 18 months 3k limit. I've had the slate for 2 years with a $500 limit. No love at all in either. These are the only cards that haven't grown with me. My scores are 712, 718 and 722.

Re: When will I get a Chase Freedom CLI?

I've had my Freedom card since 2008.  Started with a 5k limit.  Finally decided to take the HP since I have other cards with 20k limits and never got auto CLI's.  They only gave me a 5k CLI...  Not quite happy about it but oh well.  So I'd say Chase is just a little tight with CLI's.

Re: When will I get a Chase Freedom CLI?

I'm thinking never...sorry to be negative but I've given up. I've had my card since 2008. I think it was just a standard chase card back then. SL was 1K. I converted the card to a freedom months ago, thinking it might see more movement. Began putting some spend on it as well. Not much but 200-300 and PIF every month.

My credit was poor back in 2008, due to a chapter 13 in 2005.:Today all 3 scores are over 800.: my utilization is typically @ 1%. I've got some great cards like Discover (32K), Amex BCED (34K), Citi DC (10K), etc....

Today's limit on my freedom?? STILL at 1K!!!! No movement whatsoever.

After reading many posts here regarding HPs resulting in low clis, I've decided not to bother.

I guess I just look at Chase as having helped me rebuild at one point but I don't think there is really any future for me with this card. Some day I'll probably just close it and be done...
