When you ask for data points on credit cards

Does the information that is provided motivate you to then apply for the credit card (or product) that is being mentioned or is it just for your own knowledge?

Re: When you ask for data points on credit cards

It's just used for others as research or knowledge for anyone who is debating on apping for that certain product , it's nice to have some data pts to be compared to bf apping

Re: When you ask for data points on credit cards

But no I always ask for data pts but i am not going out and apping for that product, I just like to compare and research different approvals and what certain lenders like to see in the case that I do want to apply for that one day

Re: When you ask for data points on credit cards

It depends on the person asking. Some are looking to educate themselves, where others are definitely looking to app and are getting smart first. When I post for cc data points usually it's with the idea of CLIs in mind, not so much the approval, but my scores are all pretty solid so someone with a 600 score likely has something different in mind than someone with an 800 score.

Re: When you ask for data points on credit cards

I think data points are most useful so one can compare what kind of things a certain credit card is looking for in its applicant and also to see if one has similar points that can give one a better gauge if they should decide to apply.

NO data points leads to people assuming theyll get the same only because everyone else on myFico is getting it, lol, uh hmm, Navy , LolSmiley Wink

Re: When you ask for data points on credit cards

I know some of us ask for the purpose of saving someone's credit life...ie: If someone has the intent to app for Chase Sapphire Reserve but just app'd for 5 other Chase cards in the last year...someone might jump in and tell them not to apply because they are going to get a guaranteed denial. Often times, this is my reasoning.
