Re: Where not to use an AMEX card?

I use my Amex card every where. I work at a really big chain pharmacy and I use my card a lot sometimes 5 times a day just to buy a water and never had a problem. My last statement was over $1200 because I bought my iPad with it no issue in fact I just got another one. That article was from 2008 the height of when every thing went down the drain. In fact my store requires a zip code in order for Amex to go through. All of them Macy's and BoA issued cards as well
AMEX PRG; AMEX EveryDay $14,800; Freedom $6k; Sapphire $7k; IHG Select $5k; Discover $2,400; BofA Better Balance $9,100; Bank Americard $5,900; Citi DC $2,700; Citi Diamond $2,500; BestBuy $20,000; Amazon Prime $5k, United Club $15,000; Home Depot $20,000; Barclays $7,500

@Duncan

In all seriousness I think it had more to do with the housing crisis of 08 than shopping at Walmart. As you can see from the article this was happening around 2008. Also there's another BIG thing we casually overlooked, and that was Amex was profiling people with mortgages, perhaps those who received one under not so desirable conductions.

I don’t think Amex would go against a giant company like Walmart. It makes no sense for Amex to do that… unless… I have a theory muhahhahahah.

Re: Where not to use an AMEX card?

well sam's club doesnt accept Amex or Visa for that matter ( atleast here in NC ) so since Walmart owns Sam's Club maybe they're trying to turn Amex loyals to not shop there Smiley Happy

At least around here, the parking lots at Walmart are full of all kinds of expensive cars, BMW's, Audi's, Lexus'. The hedge fund manager wives love shopping at Walmart and Marshalls since they are cheap like everyone else. You'd bet that they use their AMEX cards there.

Maybe they are profiling, not where you shop but WHAT you shop. If you're shopping at Walmart you should be okay, but don't buy Bud, Bud Light or any beer from Anheuser-Busch. Only deadbeats drink Bud.

Can't buy PBR either. Smiley Tongue
