Which AMEX is better?

Sorry, let's try that again... Hi I'm new to myFICO. I am interested in an AMEX rewards card mostly for Airline travel, but flex is fine two. I'm trying to decide between the blue sky and the blue cash. Which is better? Is there a rewards card that is better than either of these? (I don't want an AF and I don't mind the APR since this will be a PIF card. (yes i have been lurking for a while LOL) TIA

Re: Which AMEX is better?

Blue Cash is the best rewards card available, hands down. As long as you spend at least $1500 a month on it.

Re: Which AMEX is better?

what happens if i spend less than $1500/month?

and when they say you can earn points on monthly bills does that include things like carnotes and car ins?

do I have to set up direct pay through them?

Will i get approved on my own for blue cash or should i take the delta skymiles back door? my TU credit score is a little over 700 i don't know about the rest.

Re: Which AMEX is better?

I recommend AmEx Blue, points can be converted to FF miles. Here's a helpful link.

Re: Which AMEX is better?

One more thing that I would like to mention.  I went through the same situation as you.  I converted to the Blue Cash from their Delta Skymiles Platinum, which I planned to do anyway.  However, the cust. service rep. spent 10 minutes with me on the telephone to get the one I really did need (which was the Blue Cash).

We talked about how much I spend on different things, and then he told me the pros and cons of each.

I would call AMEX and ask their opinion.  Maybe I am naive, but AMEX's customer service seems to actually want to get you in the right card.

Starting Score: 583 EQ, 612 EX, 569 TU
Current Score: 658 EQ, 648 EX, 618 TU
Goal Score: 720 EQ, 720 EX, 720 TU

Re: Which AMEX is better?

thank everyone for your quick responses. I'm just wondering why blue cash over blue sky? Does anyone here have a blue sky AMEX card?

Re: Which AMEX is better?

What do you spend most of your money on? I spend a lot on the groceries and gas, so after I pass the $6500 threshold, I'll be banking on the 5% back. You don't get 5 miles per dollar on any FF card... plus FF miles always have stupid stipulations that make miles difficult to use. I'd rather pay cash for a ticket.

Maybe  I am naive too- but I am not when it comes to customer service- and AMEX is awesome w/ customer service.

Re: Which AMEX is better?

OP, the Blue Cash card does not participate in Amex's membership rewards program. So if you app for Blue Cash there will be no points for FF miles.
