So I am brand new to this forum and really trying to bump up my credit.
Current scores on myfico are 651, 640, 651
on Credit Karma 673,656
Now I have a couple of credit cards and a car loan I will be paying off over the next month or two
BoA Cash Rewards $900 balance ($1,000 limit)
Capital One NHR $1900 balance ($2,000 limit)
And a car loan with a balance of $9,000
Both sites are recommending the Barclaycard Rewards and that NFL Points card (I know this is based on marketing from these companies as well too)
Goal is to have $0 balances but also to increase my available credit and thus boost my score.
Now my wife has roughly 800 credit and I am going to have her make me an Auth User on her Loft Visa card that has a $10,000 balance as well.
In the future I want to get just a solid airline card (probably Delta or United) and an AMEX card just based on what I have heard towards having the available credit.
Thanks.

Welcome to the forums.
Before you apply for any other credit card you need to significantly pay down the balances on the two you have.. In order to recommend a card you need to provide more important like how old your accounts are and any 'baddies' you might have on your credit file. Once you get your utilization down below 30% or even better 10% on those two cards your score should rise and you might have a good shot at some better cards than the Barclays Reward and NFL ones.
I suggest waiting for at least a few months until you pay off some of your balances. Once your utilization is down, then you will be much more likely to be approved for whatever card you apply for. And don't listen to Credit Karma's suggestions.
Once you are ready to apply, you should think about what you want out of the card. If you want an AMEX airline card, you could try the Delta. I don't know too much about it. The United credit card is from Chase bank. If you want us to guess your approval odds for these cards, you should also tell us more about your credit history. how old are your accounts? Do you have any negative marks? How many inquiries do you have?
Definately pay off the balances you have now before applying for more credit. They say that 30% utilization is the maximum you should have, and you are over 90%. It will take time, but you will have a much better chance of getting the card you want if you pay off your balances.
I would wait until you are made an AU on your wife's account and/or can pay down your utilization. That way you will be able to quailify for a better rewards card in the near future .

I wouldn't apply for a single thing until those CC's are paid off.
Anyone hear an echo in here? 😀

I do.
This was what I was thinking, was getting a little bit of an itch to try to do something. Thank you very much for the advise.
In terms of baddies I have a couple of student loans that reported late about 4+ years ago, and were paid off in full over 3 years ago. I have a medical collection that I got even though I never got the bill to begin with. Will fight on that too, its for $300.
Thanks again

Once you get those balances down you should be fine for getting a couple cards. Once you do that and your scores go up, there will be several airline mileage cards you most likely will be approved for.
