So I'm a little lost. Not sure what I should apply for based on my history.
I have:
Target: $160/$1000
FIA: $0/$1000
Amex Green (opened 1/1/11)
AAoA 3 years. Oldest 5.5 years. I have 3 30 day lates from 1.5 years ago. My score below is current.
I'm looking for another bank card with a better limit than $1K.
Thanks!
Just wait a while man. Atleast 6 months to a year until you apply for more credit.....
Fair enough. Is that just for my AAoA? I haven't opened any new cards but the AmEx in the last 4 years.
A lot of creditors don't like to see brand new accounts. Just wait till 6 months of reporting his your credit report. Then apply for one of these great cu credit cards people are getting around here. Most likely will get you a high CL. But its all your decision good luck

I don't think the Amex would be reporting so soon. The OP should be able to apply for something like chase freedom or discover at this point and get approved. 1 new card can not be considered any bad or anything. IMO Its generally OK to open 2-3 cards together and then settle down.
I will say try the discover pre approval and a local CU,
Right, that makes sense. I should also say, I have been a bank of america customer w/ checking and savings for about 5 years. Not sure if that makes a difference either. I guess I'm just not sure of which cards to look for. Discover preapprovals says it can't find me in their records so it couldn't preapprove me. Creditcards.com recommended me for some capital one cards, some others, and for a chase freedom which seems like a stretch.
What should I be looking for in my range? I may also wait 2 months just to let the account age, not sure what would be prudent.

Have you tried the CLI for the FIA account with BofA? If you havent had an increase I would start there and see what happens. BofA is a soft pull from all my experiences in requesting CLI. If you do not want to call them just hit the LUV button on your CC account. Once you get the limit up other creditors may be more willing to give you a chance.
Yeah I just asked for one, and they bumped me from $500 to $1000. He said they like to see more bank cards in the mix. That was one reason that the recon analyst said that they wouldn't bump me up more.
Give it another 4-6 months and ask again. BofA usually only doubles your present amount presently for some reason.
Not sure if it makes a difference. The analyst told me that they normally like to see another major bank card. He asked me why I didn't have one, but mentioned it would be beneficial when asking for CLI. Also, my card is a wachovia card bought by FIA a while back. Again, not sure if that makes a difference.
