I've heard about student loan baddies being removed after 9 months of good pmts (if acts aren't closed). is that a possibility?
If you go through a rehabilitation program (pay 6-9 months in a row on time), they will change your cr to show perfect payment history.

Yes and no. I am currently in the rehab process (6th month of 9) for a student loan in collections. Once rehab is completed and the loan is sold the collection account / loan status can no longer report as Default / In Collections and your positive payment history should be reflected on your CR.
What can make the situation a bit stickier - credit wise - is that the original servicer / owner on the loan is not obligated to remove your late payment history with them. In my case my original TLs are going to fall off in May (right around when rehab is complete) so it worked out fairly well for me in that regard. You can also GW them to ask them kindly to remove the lates.
When I went through it, all bad was replaced by good such that no bad marks (lates or otherwise) stayed. Further, they showed a good payment history dating back to the start. That was a long time in my case...lol.
I definitely hope that works out that way in my case ... My loans are over 10 years old (I paid them diligently for a while then lost job, etc ... ) so to have 10 years of positive payment history on them would be pretty sweet!
Mine were about the same age..... it is a tremendous boost to your credit.
Fingers crossed ... come May 2014 all of the derogs across all of my accounts should be gone with several 10+ year TLs in perfect standing. I won't even know what to do with myself after years of cleaning up my messes lol.
