It's funny because before I started obsessing about my credit and perusing MyFICO, I never paid attention. Now that I do, it seems I mostly see either WF or Chase debit cards. I can't really say I see a predominate credit card used. Really just a mix of everything. I saw a woman use a Citi DC earlier today. First of those I had seen.
I was just thinking about this the other day. Most people where I live pay with debit cards or cash, but if I had to identify credit cards that I most frequently see out and about that are also common on myFICO, they are as follows (and roughly in order):
1) Chase Freedom
2) Capital One Platinum MasterCard
3) Discover it
4) Quicksilver
5) Wells Fargo Platinum Visa (there are a ton of Wells Fargos where I live)
6) Amex Platinum (this is actually pretty commonly seen when I happen to be on the wealthy side of town).
Interestingly, I have never seen a Chase Sapphire Preferred.
I have seen two PRGs, two Southwest Rapid Rewards, two BCEs, one Double Cash, one Marriott, one Slate, one Delta Amex, one Wyndham Visa, and one Venture, as well as the occasional BOA credit card (it's hard to tell which one it without getting close up if they have the old designs).
My S.O., who works at Comcast, took a payment from someone who paid with an AARP Visa. When he told me, I couldn't believe it! The guy was only 22 years old. When my S.O. asked him about the card, he replied, "Yeah, I really like it. 3% back at restaurants." He must be a myFICO member, lol.
Been using my Prestige as my daily driver lately, sans the BCP for gas and groceries.
I always observe what people are using to pay for their goods. I live in Los Angeles, we have an interesting dynamic.
I see a lot of EBT cards.
I see a lot of debit cards from Chase, Wells Fargo and BofA.
I see a lot of Wells Fargo Credit Cards, Cap One Platinum/QuickSilver, Amex Plat, PRG, some version of the Blue.
I see the United Explorer card fairly often.
I've seen a Freedom, Slate, Amex EveryDay used once.
I've never seen a CSP, Discover, Barclay.
I've seen a guy bragging about his Marriott card once in a Ruth's Chris to everyone at the table.
I've seen a young dude use a Prestige once at Mendocino Farm in Marina Del Rey.
I don't really see Citi cards or BofA cards.
I've seen a few Centurions.
Edit: I see a ton of Delta Golds.
I would be most impressed if I saw another person using a SallieMae card.

I think I see a healthy amount of WF debit cards, Chase debit cards, WF Platinum cards, Cap1 QS and Cap1 Platinum cards. I've also seen Chase SW cards, Amex PRG/Plat/Green every so often, a couple of Cap1 Ventures, an Amex BCE once, a Citi DC once, a Citi DP a couple of times, a Barclays Arrival+ once, some Citi AAdvantage a lot more lately, a few United Plus cards, one or two CSPs, a Marriott here and there, a few Discover ITs, and a partridge in a pear tree. 😛
Where I'm at, I see a lot of everything except for Citi cards. Don't see many of those at all.
I was paying for a Papa Murphy's pizza last weekend, and an older couple were paying for a couple of pizzas with cash. So the lady is digging in her coin purse to get out some last measure of dimes, nickels and pennies, and then the cashier gives THE GUY some change back, and I'm like, I could really use those last two minutes of my life back, thank you very much.
Then I used my Alaska Airlines card for 10% off at Papa Murphy's (multiple purchases not just one visit btw) so there!
I see a lot of debit cards. A colleague at work was using her Capital One Platinum card, would leave it on the table in meetings because she didn't have any pockets. I want to suggest she could PC to at least Quicksliver, but it seems not an appropriate topic for work.
A lot of cards related either to BECU or Alaska Airlines, a smattering of Costco AMEX cards. Chase Debit is common too.
I saw a real foreign Diners Club Corporate card a few months back at the work cafeteria. We get a lot of visitors traveling in from europe.
But it still amazes me how many people use bills and coins to pay. There's either some lack of financial management skills, or people don't trust their ability to track payments and balances in an account.
Oh and a VISA BLACK CARD at the grocery store. Said BLACK CARD on it. I was impressed. It was black in color. Very chic.
