Holy ****! I got approved for the Delta Gold Skymiles! I've never had a prime credit card before. I can't believe I actually got approved by American Express. CL of 9k too. I guess I just had to wait for my most recent late payment to turn a year old.
I think you hit it right there. Congratulations! you're in the big leagues now now. Smiley Happy

HTSU, my next goal is for a Discover card, but I have a bad feeling I won't be able to get one until 2009 when my last 3 derogs fall off. I heard you have virtually no chance with Discover with any derogs.

Yes, I've put them on ice, too, both due to my mildly tarnished history and to their recent reduction in rewards.

They originally told me that if I ever wanted to switch from AU to joint, it would be automatic. But recent posts have said that they hard you now, so that could get interesting!

Hi Hauling, if we have a HSBC or Walmart Discover card in good standing, over a period of time, does it help to get the real Discover card? Or it just does not matter if we have it or not?

Re: Whoa, applied for an Amex and didn't get an instant decline.

My understanding is that it does nothing to help get a "real" Discover, other than the fact that you will have a TL with good history, etc. Any warm fuzzies seem to stay with the issuing bank, rather than with the card type.

I'm sure that I'm not even a blip on American Express's radar, despite having a high-CL AmEx from USAA. All the love remains with USAA, I'm afraid.
