Hello, All
After getting back in with AMEX this week with the PLatinum (NPSL) card I'm asking myself....why the charge card and not a different card with a limit? Does anyone have any incite into why this particular card for someone who just got back in after BK but paid the debt off? What should my course be to get in with another card now or keep this card and ask for a different one later?
Thanks
I think charge cards are easier to qualify for.
If you travel a lot, platinum is great.
If you eat out a lot and/or spend a lot on groceries, gold is great.
$445 difference in AF.
The blue cards are great values as well.
GL!

It's generally believed that the charge card products have more lenient underwriting criteria due to the fact that they're PIF cards. Yes you can pay over time if approved but not everyone qualifies for this.
If you're targeting other AMEX cards then I'd keep this one open and build up a solid payment history as this should help you with any future approvals.

Yep... only have one Amex but it's a $10k Delta Gold... and since I eat out a lot and buy groceries it's great for that. So far I've gotten 2x cross country flights with miles as well as a $100 flight credit and working on the 2nd one...
Hefty annual fee
Might be useful in that there isn't any utilization % to fiddle with the fico score with the NPSL flavors.

It's a great card if you do a lot of travel. If not, then it's just an expensive card.
Whether it becomes useful or not, you should hang on to it for at least 13 months if you value your relationship with American Express.
I would not apply for another card so soon. I would just try to make the most out of having the Platinum.
I'm going to keep it for a year while i"m in the garden using it as needed then change products and /or get another card. The yearly fee is low key tax for people like me with profile problems.
If you don't travel, you shouldn't have this one, but if you travel alot this is found money. Also, put your Netflix/Hulu bill on it as you'll get back $25 every month, they also give you $15 a month for Uber (must be used that month or you lose it), and any small upgrades on flights will be covered too. Give them a call and ask, their reps are very knowledgeable. I called to cancel and this one dude got me so gassed up I kept it 🤣

Isn't that only on the specific airline you chose in advance for the year, or did that change.
