Why Chase?

From everything I've read, and personal experience, not sure why so many people want Chase. I'd much rather have BofA. Better customer service and they will grow with you unlike Chase. Hate that bank!

UPDATE: Contacted Chase today and asked specifically what I need to do to be approved in one year. The only real thing I had going against me was too many new accounts and recent inquiries. Since I applied with Chase in mid April, I've been gardening. Many inquiries will fall off my credit reports ,and I will have between 1-2 years established credit. I also PIF on all my cards. My Venture CL $15,000 hasn't reported yet, as it will surely help. My Fico should be above 700. I did have a BK in 2012, but this was not their determining factor.

Nothing wrong with hating Chase.  We all have banks that works best for our financial needs. Personally, Chase Bank works for me well as I don't do business with BOA.  So everyone is different.

Why Chase? The bonuses.... obviously.... I have got 6 Chase cards in the last 6 months. All of them had some sort of bonus.

BoA cant compete with that but I do agree that they will grow with you. With Chase, you can move limits around. Hell I could put everything on one card and have over a 50K limit.

807 TU FICO Score 8.

Re: Why Chase?

They approved me last month then declined me. It was a headache dealing with them. Never again!

Re: Why Chase?

It is because everybody wants/needs something different. Not everybody spends the same or does the same thing. Take me for instance, I have, BoA Cash Rewards and Chase Marriott Rewards & Freedom Cards. All of them have their place and based on what I am doing or where I am spending will depend on the card that I use. I tend to stay at Marriott Properties when I travel so that card makes perfect sense to me (1 free night per year and the rewards on top of that make up for the AF). With both the Cash Rewards and Freedom cards have their place as well. I spend more that $1,500 on gas per year which would mean that anything over that w/BoA is nly 1% CB. With Chase, the CB catagories for 5% change per quarter, so in some quarters I would spend the max allowed for 5%.

So to your question, each card and each bank have their ups and downs. If you are only choosing a card based on their customer service then you will not maximize your rewards.

Re: Why Chase?

I'm sure a lot of people have that same negative opinion of BoA. In my opinion, Chase has the best cards of all the banks, and their bonuses are the most attractive as well. See how that works? Everyone is going to have their own opinion on the products/services/businesses they have used.

Re: Why Chase?

Thanks again, Yes-Its-Me! Maybe hate is not the right word. I despise them. Lol. They had me in circles. I even contacted the EO. In this case, it was the principle. I was approved, then denied after I called in to check status a few days later with another credit analyst. I shouldn't have called back, but some things just happen for a reason. I'm now with BofA and their customer service has been amazing, to say the least.

I understand as I'd hate them too you know if they put me through the ringer like that. But give it sometime.  Chase is weird.  There are plenty of people here who have BK and got in with them...

Have you burn them before?
