@8in2years wrote:Chase gave me a hard time too when I applied for Marriot and CSP back in March of this year. At first, they said I was denied then approved. I was very persistant with the EO though. I had no BK, collections or recent lates. I'm happy with the cards now that I have them. I'm just glad to be part of the Chase family, after eyeing those cards for over a year. To OP, sorry about your cancer, glad you are okay.
Agreed. With Chase, it is persistent hounding within the 30 day window allowed to get a decision overturn is what they like also.
Stick in there and they will give you a chance at some point! I just recently got my Freedom with a $500 limit haha! Maybe when you get in you will get a better limit
Thanks everyone! I might reconsider if I get a preapproval in the mail. Lol.

What did their EO say when you reached out to them?
It all depends on spending habits and personal preferences, really, but from what I understand Chase really knocks it out of the park for traveling - CSP + Freedom + Ink can load up a metric crapload of UR points which a lot of people value more than straight cash for certain types of redemptions. Not to mention the signup bonuses if you collect the cards at the right times.
I'm very sorry you had a bad experience with Chase. Some people have weird experiences with them and when Chase gets scared, they can really cause some havoc (like some people have had AA thrown down and had all of their cards cancelled, even if they didn't do anything "wrong" recently, while others have Chase cards that weather the storm of financial hardship unscathed).
A lot of banks are pretty anti-BK so I would just wait if you want a particular card until it ages a bit more. BKs are a really funny animal in the realm of rebuilding because it seems like there is anecdotal evidence for every outcome under the sun regardless of what one could say. It sounds like you're moving in the right direction in the terms of your rebuild and so I would just advise to stay the course with the banks you enjoy working with.
I'm glad you made it through the illness ok, OP.
The EO told me that I was aggressively looking for credit and to wait a while before reapplying. I've had 5 inquiries in the past year. Most were Cap1 and 2 were Barclays. I tried to explain the inquiries and how I've re-established, but they still wanted more time.

If that was the reason they gave and NOT BK, I wouldn't sweat it. You should be fine in 6 months when you apply...
You all have been very insightful. Thank you for taking the time to respond, and your well wishes!
I have yet to see the EO with Chase not take the advise of the UW/Analyst athough there might be a few examples, typically they stick by the decisions of the UW/Analyst but will bump it up to a senior Uw/Analst. Give it more time or wait for a Pre-qual again on the site hopefully in a few months and try again... Best of luck
