Is there anything I can do to make it more likely to get a 0% APR Balance Transfer Offer? I've had my Discover card for years and a few years back they offered me a BT and I transferred $6000 over and paid it off completely before the promotional period ended, about a year and a half ago. Since then, I've put $300 or less on the card per month and PIF when charges post. But I've never been offered a BT again. I have 3 Capital One Cards and while I was offered BTs upon opening them several years back, the offers have never returned. For all of these cards I have had high cl, carried balances close to the limits and paid them down to zero multiple times over. I'm not sure what they're looking at when evaluating BT offers....I hear about others getting them all the time. Any ideas?
I have not seen a Discover BT offer on either of my cards in ages.
No Cap1 cards so I cannot comment on that.
My DW gets Discover offers with a balance but I don’t without a balance.
My limits are higher.
I have 2 cards, she has 1.
But her scores are around 810 while mine are around 730.
All my Cap One offers have also dried up...
DON'T WORK FOR CREDIT CARDS ... MAKE CREDIT CARDS WORK FOR YOU!
I doubt there is anything anyone can do to induce bt offers. Mine dried up well over a year now so im guessing more based iff my geographic location, work area, and fact that ive used their bt before and paid back within a month. Would be nice to get them even at higher fee but alas Miss Disco is a choosy lover
@Repairman I agree with Averagejoe. Not much you can do. Early in the pandemic some folks noted that their balance transfer offers stopped coming in, while others continued receiving them.
Some credit unions like DCU and NFCU send out annual balance transfer offers to members outside of new account promotional offers.
If you don't mind opening a new account, you can look into finding a low interest balance transfer option.
Also, try reaching out to Discover to see if they have any offers available. Sometimes they have temporary apr reduction offers.
Good luck!
I have noticed that too the BT stopped once the pandemic kicked in.
I am sure they will pick back up when the pandemic kicks out.
I get them on both my Disco cards all the time (with 4% fee 😑) but Capital One are some haters. Haven't seen one on my QS since 2017 and my SavorOne only had the initial one available for the first year and nothing since.

Sorta like Citi teasing me with one on my Dc years ago or my DP, now nada, not even flex loans. You'd think with debt id be a candidate but alas im just cannon fodder
Funny you mentioned it because I literally just received a BT offer email from Capital One. I am not a BT expert but it looks to me like a pretty decent offer. Here is a screenshot of the terms.
I don't know what triggered it except I have sock drawered the card for about a year. Maybe Capital One is hoping to make some money off me?
Yeah there's nothing really you can do to increase the odds of a BT offer, they're either availble or not. While I've consistently had offers from Disco they haven't been the best terms in regards to the fee or the rate for more time. I assume due to the pandemic, so I haven't taken any their offers. I used to utilize 0% BT's on Discover every year for about 8-10 months and hardly ever use them as an actual CC for purchases. Yet they still offerd them. In the months I don't have abalance I barely put $100 on it in charges. I definitely don't use it as much once I got the rewards cards with higher returns.
