I forgot about the free FICO. I'll probably keep it just for that. I've never shopped ShopDiscover either so can't really comment on that.
About one year ago, Discover raised my credit limit from $5000 to $15,000 without me asking them. I was shocked but very happy with that.
I was away on a Disney cruise and we ended up going to one of those "timeshare" meetings. We ended up buying a Disney timeshare (DVC) but you had to arrang
e financing on the ship unless you had a checkbook. So they checked my credit and I received their "top tier" status with a loan of just over 11% for about $20,000. Absolutely not!
When I came home, I noticed Discover offered me a decent balance transfer offer so I took it, leaving a balance of about $10,000 on the card. A few months later they kept calling me without leaving messages and I had to Google the number. I saw it was Discover card so I called them. The woman on the phone told me they wanted to give me a CLD. I asked her why and she said they like to see their balances <50%. I told her what I written above and after a long hold, she said she put a notation on my account and I should be good for the next six months.
Since then, I immediately paid down under 50% so they do not freak out. My point is, why give me this incredible increase, without me asking, and then a BT offer good until 2015 and then want to CLD me when I take advantage of it?
It just didn't sit well with me even though I now have this "notation" on my account. I guess that is the first time I felt they were unpredictable and the last time I'll use their card heavily. That and what I wrote above - the no FTFs are great but not when businesses don't even take their card. CS is great but how often are they called? Anyway, just seeing why others like them. I'll have to take a look at their ShopDiscover site. Loving the free FICO score though!
Good CS, 5% rotating catetgories that I actually will take advantage of, free FICO, gave me my highest intiial CL of any card I have ... pretty happy so far.
@Anonymous wrote:1. Great CS (though I haven't had "bad" CS experiences)
2. Auto CLIs (only lender other than WF who's done that for me - and much more frequent than WF)
3. ShopDiscover (even though it only works half the time)
4. Great website and smartphone apps
5. 5% bonus for online shopping during the holiday season
6. Free FICO score
Love the app. The ability to log in with a pin instead of username/password combo is great. I wish my other bank apps would do this.

Yep. The pincode is great! But even other than that, it's just really well designed, functional, and very powerful. They update pretty frequently as well. They were one of the first apps to update their iPhone app to iOS 7. Now compare that to the WF app which looks like it hasn't been updated in 5 yrs...
In no particular order: (1) shopdiscover, best (though topcashack is close, and better for some merchants) overall portal in the industry; (2) favorable GC redemptions, such as 20% off Brooks Brothers; (3) 5% categories when it's Amazon.
*Edited* Also, no late fee if I go past the due date, or over the limit fees.
1. 5% Cash back
2. Cash back categories that actually matter (HELLO! 5% with online shopping? LOL!)
3. Their CSR's are sweethearts.
4. Fico score (win)
5. Online shopping portal (win)
6. I have an audio cassette for a credit card. 'Nuff said.
Great website and mobile app and super friendly customer service. I only applied because of the $150 bonus, but I'm loving my It card.

OT, but: Open, what is your success with TCB? I've used it 8 times, and three of the times I had to open a ticket as things weren't tracked. (2 of these times the cashback eventually came, waiting to hear about the third). So the rates are very good, just don't feel it is as reliable as some of the credit card malls (although I've had a few similar issues there as well)

I've only had one case where it didn't track, because I had forgotten to clear cookies and cache.
Here's my process, and it's been 100% tracked, at least with the Merchants I've used. I use either Google Chrome, never IE, Firefox or Safari. Before logging onto to topcashback, clear cookies and cache, completely resetting your browser. Open Google chrome again, and log onto topcashback. Click your Merchant and make your purchase, and never use the "back" button.
For another purcahse, rinse and repeat. I've found that with certain Merchants, the only track one (the first) topcashback purchase per day.
