Ha ha ducky, merchants do that because they figure if I got to pay higher transaction fees then you will help! It isn't right though, I agree.

LOL! regardless of the reason it violates the agreement they signed when they were accepted as merchants.

Yep Brammy I know this, I signed that same agreement but people still do it. It's a form of price gouging unfortunately.

Re: Why dont we do this in America?

Companies that do this or insist on minimum purchase amounts to use a CC don't get my business.

Period.

I usually go one step further and report them to Visa.

They get my business; and the card company gets a letter reporting the activity without fail everytime.

LOL...that is the truth.  Funny thing is that a lot of places it's just swipe-print-have-a-nice-day.

I'm still always taken aback when I don't have to sign for small purchases anymore, even though that's been going on for quite some time now.

Re: Why dont we do this in America?

Quite often, I'll get carded when I present my cc to them. Have to take the d.l. out of the holder and show them. They DO look at it, and compare names...but don't check back of cc.

BB does this 100% of the time, which is comforting.

Wish every merchant did this.
