Suppose to be gardening and got in the mail today to get $10 statement credit if I make five $25 purchases in a month. Seriously, who couldn't do this? So, of course I log in to accept, and gee, what else happens to be there? A pre-select for a USAA Cash Rewards Platinum Visa Card ![]()
I would normally be happy about this but I'm suppose to be in the garden. Why does USAA want to tempt me like this? I have waaaaaaaaay to many inquiries and if I take the bait, I'm sure I wont be happy with the terms - and that's if I'm approved ![]()
Let me garden for now USAA!!!!! Quit messing with me! I need to do this otherwise I'll be stuck at a mediocre credit score forever! Didn't think staying in the garden would be this hard.

Just be happy you're eligible for a card from them. USAA and NFCU are two I wouldn't mind adding, but I don't meet eligibility criteria.

I think ill be stuck around 700 lol
the 70k bonus with Marriott is to good to pass up lol.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to take the offer but right now I just cant ![]()
Eight inquiries on EquiFax, six on Experian, and five on TransUnion in the past year. Score has dropped like a rock from 730->665 Equifax. I guess it's now just a waiting game. It would have been a good card to go with my USAA World MC, but with the lower score, I doubt I'd get a good limit.

Your score dropped that much just from inqs?
Inquiries and new lines of credit - 7 months ago I had 0 revolving accounts. The first three accounts shot me up to 730, then the last four, I came crashing down. Too much too fast. I'm a noob, didn't know any better ![]()

Also, charged up 10% utilization over all 7 cards - some of the reporting balances were so minuscule, I didn't realize that would affect credit score. But, I've recently learned to let only one card show a balance if you can help it. I think I'll get quite a few points back when only 2 of my cards actually show a balance next month.

You will get a score increase..... I let 2 cards report from time to time and it doesn't affect my score but a point or two from 2 cards to 1 card reporting a bal. of 1% total util
@But what about the inquiries? Too many to go for another card with USAA? My current card with them is the World MC @ 16.9%, $7000 CL. Probably a bad move to try to accept the offer? AAoA is only 8 months - only because I had a auto loan 3 years ago.
