Re: Why isn't Blispay a coveted card?

I'm surprised how quickly this card sort of fell off the radar.  I was lucky that they started me with a really nice limit and I like that the cash back is an automatic monthly process without haven't to do anything extra.  I haven't used the financing feature, but I did make a couple of purchases where I could have and I see how easy that would be.  It's a very nice, straightforward 2% cash back card.

Since it's not a major bank backed card with a wide footprint and long relationship with other banking institutions, it takes a long time for push payments to get to Blispay from a checking account (5 days with Chase).  .It's easier to have Blispay pull the money from your bank, which takes about about 2 to 3 days to be debited.  I don't prefer this as I like pushing payments from my checking account so the amount is automatically deducted as soon as I initiate the payment.

Their customer service is severely lacking.  Thankfully, I haven't had to call them often, but when I do, it just feels sketchy and low budget (I can't explain it exactly, but I have felt uncomfortable giving personal information to a few of the reps I've spoken with).

The fact that it's future may be tenuous and uncertain is also something to consider, but it's made it to a year and that's a good sign!

Actually Frys Electronics bank is the issuer (First Electronic Bank) .. and TD Bank is the prequaifier/doles out the credit......(They are doing an Elan)

The approval process is the problem which turns off most folks to this card.. They don't like to manually verify card apps or make you jump through hoops if they offer to verify at all... Their system is not very good at self-verification...

The no CLI thing is definitely a buzzkill... I would like a higher CL than i currently have on it..

And mixing/matching 0% offers and general spend is a bit tricky.... I only use it for one or the other... But its 2% and you dont have to do anything tor redeem it..

If it was allowed id be tempted to have 2 of this card.. One for General Spend and the other for financing offers...

If you get approved (and they are a bit unpredictable and go through verification without a hitch).. their online CSRs on twitter are actually pretty good..

And so far.. iv gotten 2% back on even financed purchases.. so thats a win win...

I think its a good card if you can get over the verification hump.and approved. For a "flavor of the month" Im really enjoying it...

As one of the tools in the box (wallet) I find Blispay to be great, that said I'd never use it as a daily spend because I'd never know what was due when how where and I'm not willing to maintain a spreadsheet just for a single card, any card.

No spreadsheet needed. When I get my bill I simply add up all the under $99.00 charges and pay that amount. Why they do not add a "To avoid paying interest you must pay xxx by the due date" I have no idea, its a simple addition problem.

When a Deferred intertest item is at its 5th month, online it says "Expiring Soon" or you can see on the statement.

Its really not that hard to avoid interest.

Another way is to simply add the deferred balances and subtract them from the outstanding balance. That is what you need to pay to avoid interest for that month.

I am at almost $800.00 back in the last 11 months so for a free card thats great for me and beats much of wallet. I have about $115 across cards that I cannot redeem due to minimums so it is just wasted. Blispay has become my daily driver, of course it helps that they gave me a 12K CL.

Re: Why isn't Blispay a coveted card?

$12k as far as I understand is the highest limit that Blispay will give.  I've heard of 3-4 people with this limit, maybe 3-4 more with $10k limits and then everyone else basically in the $5k-$9k range which is respectable at best.  Blispay is definitely not the way to go for people that like to push limits, get CLIs, etc.  My limit is only $6k and has been a major constraint for me as I've twice wanted to make purchases greater than my limit would support.  Obviously I was not able to use Blispay for those purchases as a result.  I've probably not even used the card for $1000 total in spend over the last 9 months since getting it and the main reason has been the limit.  Had they thrown me a larger limit no doubt I would have spent MANY more times as much.  I do really hope that when they hit their 1 year anniversary next month that they start considering CLIs.  The CEO told me toward the end of last summer that he knew that they would have to start giving CLIs eventually to be competitive... so at least he's aware of that.

Visa Classic with no luv and a rather high static APR if you don't pay off the promotional financing in time.

No sign up bonus, either. I'd much sooner app for the Citi DC.

Heart BlisPay!! To make things simpler for me, we use it for 0% financing only. Alll other non-category spend goes on the DC.

Re: Why isn't Blispay a coveted card?

Love the Blispay. 2% paid back the next month.

The lower CL keeps me from going crazy with the 0% for 6 months. I always try to keep my balance below 10% ($7,500 CL) for score purposes and pay all defered charges off by month 5.

If you get the end of you 0% time, put all of your $200+ spend on the card (instead of sending a check to the company send it to Blispay). AT&T, Cable, Insurance and even my electric bill can be paid with a credit card and no fee, This way you can extend your 0% interest time and collect 2%.

Works for me, but I have heard of the horror stories from some.

Re: Why isn't Blispay a coveted card?

This is a thread I posted last October showing how I use the card http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/BlisPay-to-the-rescue/m-p/4761366

I have continued to use the card for larger purchases as I said in my previous post - maybe 8 times between my account and my wife's. I have a ton of cards, almost all are 5 figure credit limits, but $7500 (x 2 if you count household options) is more than enough for what I use the card for. This card will never be a daily spender - I've got 3% and 5% cash back cards for that and I always have at least 2 cards going on 0% promotions (either sign up or BT). In general I PIF and I have not paid a penny in interest over the last 3+ years.

Blispay is a very good option for certain purchases - I did not experience any sign up issue or the like problems others have reported- the web site is a PITA with all the security code every time but the few times I visit the site is generally to pay off a purchase.

I do keep a spread sheet on my accounts, balances - APR - CL - due dates, etc but over all its a quick process with smaller amounts paid once they post, larger balances (promotional or 0%) once a month when I get paid (once a month). my job is typically 60+ hours a week and a lot of times I don't get home until 10PM or later - quick, easy simple is how I track and pay my cards - Blispay "for me" doesn't make the cut as far as a daily spender - but I'd hate to give it up for the simple fact they pay me 2% tro finance larger purchases for 6 months (I always PIF on the 5th cycle - so  I guess its 2% for 5 months in my case).
