Applying for credit cards is like dating in a small town. Everybody knows what's going on. So yes, if you apply for more, your chances are better at getting a date. But at the same time many better catches might shy away thinking your getting desperate. On the other had unlike dating banks want to see some experience before they give you better credit. One way to do this is with secured cards to show you can handle the responsibility. This can take 9-12 months before the better catches take interest.

Laugh, I do like pizza's posts too.

Actually OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) is pretty severe. Have you heard of a show like, "Monk?" Smiley Wink Seriously, I know a borderline OCDs, when they walk into a room, they always count to 5.

What is more common is obsessive compulsive personality trait. I fall into that category and DH wholeheartedly agrees. Smiley Very Happy

I wouldn't call the drive to hit 800's OCD. What makes OCD different from desire is the difference between the "want" and the "need". I found a better quality of life and a more profitable business through credit. Anyone who works hard knows how much further your money can go paying little to no interest on your loans. I've also learned that my lenders extended more credit to me in the 800's than 700's and 600's.

Learning this score algarithom was one of the most fun mathematical mysteries. So much like a scavenger hunt. Searching for clues all over the internet. I love spending a weekend thinking about a mathematical formula. ok. I'm a geek. lol. After a big score jump don't all of you feel really good. It's fun to improve after a hard challenge. I'd rather be learning about 850 scores than watching TV.

pizza, I love figuring out the math, too, although I'm definitely hindered by too many variables and not enough data. Gotta find the pattern, gotta figure out the logic.

And you can't say that every bank in your region of the country doesn't have your photo and demographics mounted on their breakroom walls!

If you spend less than you earn - eventually you will get a high score.

If you spend more than you earn - eventually you will get in trouble.

And I have a small gas card, a small store card (our clothes), a CU CC (low CL) that pays a charitable contribution every month and is in the freezer, an air miles card and a gas back card.

Re: Why so many CCs?

I've noticed on a few different places on the forums, that some individuals state if you have more than 4 CC's, each additional CC (over 4) will hurt your credit. Is that true, a myth, or simply an opportunity cost when needed?
