Why the all at once slash?

I have had a 835 CS for over 5 years. No lates. Payments were made on time. Used maybe 3%-5% of my CL. I think I had like $100k total. One week Amex cut, next few days Chase cut, Citi cut, and others closed. Obviously this all started and snowballed my CS to not 640. Its insane. I haven't lost my job. No pay cut. Only crime is that I did not overleverage myself. 1 car loan. 1 home loan from 2020.

Did you make any large purchases lately? That is strange but there has to be some data point that kicked this off.

Re: Why the all at once slash?

Credit Karma (TransUnion and Equifax) and Experian. Cap1 just slashed another one from $5k to $2k.

literally was using. Single digit percentages of CL but due to slashes now 50-60%

Re: Why the all at once slash?

Have you looked at all three Reports?

This is very unusual.

Re: Why the all at once slash?

I have. They just say after reviewing. I dunno why I feel it's cause I don't keep my accounts at 60% usage and in combination of we lowered your credit limit and everyone else wants to follow suit. It's discouraging. You cannot win with these people

This, and the above posts, are very vague and not helpful in determining what happened.

From my understanding so far:

$350k annual salary

You previously had $100k in available credit across a few cards

You carried a $3k-5k balance (3-5% of $100k)

You purchased a home in 2020 and a $44k car in April 2026

Your $5k balance is now reporting as 50-60% utilization due to CL decreases

As far as determining what happened it would help to know:

1.) Your specific cards with original CL and then the new "slashed" limit

2.) Your specific balances across all the cards prior to the limits being lowered

3.) What card was cut first and the order of events that lead to where you're at now

The  biggest thing that stands out to me is the overall low CL relative to your income, and the vagueness of the post.

Re: Why the all at once slash?

I am sorry if I am vague.
Citi was first . 4 cards with $20k-$27k in limit all reduced to $2000. Balances are now between $900-$1700 approx each. Chase followed doing the same thing. Amex did the same and cut Platinum to $3600 vs no defined CL.

all balances were under $2k each. Balances were only on 50% of cards
