Never a late payment, no baddies, 770 EX 790 TU 780 EQ. Have had high util with Amex before - maxed BBP and charge cards - they imposed limits on my Plat/Business Gold that have never since been lifted.
When I was younger, I REALLY wanted to get a core revolver from them. So I tried pretty much every 30 days. I've been declined 36 times by them (foolish, I know, but I'm looking forward now). I can't seem to get a CLI with Amex on my BBP either.
I'd still love to get a core revolver from them for the 3x CLI and to start building a better relationship with them. I love Amex, but they don't seem to love me. Will time heal all?
Magic 8-Ball says Yes. How long it will take is YMMV, all you can do is maintain a clean history overall with reasonable utilization reporting and to use the AMEX cards you have regularly.
I use them for Mod cut- not here near 100% of my spend. I love me some MRs
Something seems to be missing. High utilization shouldn't be a reason for denial and lack of CLIs as long as you are paying them. Amex loves high spend. They let me spend over the limit regularly. They have let my DW spend double her CL.
The way to get on Amex good side is to spend alot and PIF. Unless you had questionable spending.

Time healed all in my case. I had a Delta Gold with a $1k limit from 2014-2016 but never used it much beyond the initial SUB spend. There were no other real perks for the card beyond that. Never got a CLI... closed the account a couple months before filing Ch 13 in early 2017.
Fast forward to 2022... Amex just gave me the same card... only with a $10k limit. It's now the best card in my limited rebuild profile. The massive limit is really more than I need but I'll take it.
First month I've ran $3k thru the card... met the SUB spend for the 75k bonus miles and working towards the $10k yearly spend for the flight credit.
Lesson learned with the first Amex card. They're gonna love me this time around. The card is actually somewhat useful now with 2x miles at restaurants and grocery which wasn't an option on the old account. My biggest thing though is the $10k limit. I can literally pay everything else off and use this card for everything which is what I am doing at least for the rest of 2022.
