Not sure what the "lingo" is for this question... I know AMEX used to "age" a new card, or "backdate" your membership if you were previously a cardholder. Does Discover do this, or might they if I ask?
I used to have a Disco card in 2000, closed by me about 2003, and just got a new one. My AAoA could use a boost, and curious if anyone has any experience with this.
Nope.... no one does this any longer.
Aw, that's disappointing. But thanks for the quick reply!
I'm thinking they don't do that, but I could be completely off. I had a Discover when I was 18 and closed it by 20, reopened at 27 and it did nothing to boost my AAoA.
There is not a single card (that I know of) that you can app that will help you increase your AAoA by backdating (showing an open date before the time you open the account). Not Discover, nor Amex.

Because you said your AAoA could use a boost:
The only way to artificially incrase the AAoA is via AU card.
Some AU cards can help your AAoA, but it is hard work:
- you need a card with perfect record
- that reports to the bureaus
- from someone close to you (family)
- low balance or $0 balance is better
- it helps if you have same address
- not Amex card (they report as new card)
- will not help in some situations (app with some lenders, manual review)
I added my daughter as AU on a 2 year old card, now her AAoA changed from 0 months to 2 years.

+1
I edited my post, I hope is clearer now. Just trying to help.
Maybe OP can get AU and help increase AAoA, maybe not.
Back to original question:
- Will Discover Age...?
- No.
Edited out. No problem... cya
Well, at least I didn't get coal in my Christmas stocking this year. The BCP itself is a gift.
