I had a Brooks Brothers store card issued by GECRB a while back (opened in 2006). I hadn't used it in a few years, and when I started monitoring my credit more closely last spring, I noticed on my CR that the account was closed for inactivity.
I'd like to re-open the account, but only if I can do so without taking a hit to AAoA. Does anyone have any experience re-opening GE accounts? Will they backdate?
Can't re-open CC Accounts.
Nope on GE.
Bummer. Oh well, GE's loss.
GE is following standard procedure in the credit card industry.
I know of no creditors that will re-open an account which was closed several years ago. As for backdating, the only creditor who does that is American Express.
Live and learn.

@LionLaw shouldn't be a issue at all applying and getting the account back. Is it not worth the HP?
I knew I'd be taking a hard pull either way, and I wasn't particularly worried about getting approved; I was just hoping I could get a new active TL (and get 4% back on my impending large purchase from Brooks Brothers) without taking a hit to AAoA.

Gotcha!
Do you have any AMEX accounts?
