Will I get hit with a ding on my report?

I have been afraid of this happening for awhile, what with juggling mulitple cards for increased available credit. I have a Macys card that I actually use quite frequently and always pay it off or at least carry a very small balance. I received a call this afternoon that they did not receive a payment from me this month (due on the 14th). I was shocked but went online and verified that I, indeed, had forgotten to pay them. I paid it online right then but I am curious if I can expect any reporting dings or does that only happen after 30 days out?

No worries. You'll likely get a late payment fee but nothing on your reports. Call them though and nicely ask if this late can be forgiven and removed.

I believe that your CRA reports and associated scores -- EQ, TU, EX -- should be fine, as you are not 30 days past due. You can expect a late fee and a possible ding on your internal credit record with Macy's. You might want to see if they will make a note on your account that this was an uncharacteristic oversight that was immediately remedied.
