Will New US Bank Cash + Categories Work Right Away?

There was something about waiting 2-3 days after picking categories before they would take effect.  I'm assuming it will work right away on the 1st of the new quarter since I picked the categories weeks ago, but this is my first new quarter with the card, so I wanted to be sure.

I picked the new utilities category, and I have a couple bills due at the beginning of the month, so I planned to pay them on the 1st when the new quarter started.

The 2-3 days is just referring to when you picked them, and not when they switch due to a new quarter, right?

If you’ve already picked them, they will be available for new transactions beginning on the 1st. I’m not sure about current pending items that won’t post until the 1st.

I’d wait until 4/1 and you should be fine.

The three day language is for those who wait and pick after that quarter has already started.

Re: Will New US Bank Cash + Categories Work Right Away?

I picked utilities and fast food as my 5% categories which I felt would get the most spend. I only pay $40 for two cell phone lines because I don't really use much data, and I spend more than $40 on fast food so I figured I'd go that route.

I picked restaurants for the 2% category in case some place that I considered fast food comes up as restaurants instead. For example, I figured Steak & Shake would probably be fast food (they have a drive thru) but the Visa lookup website had mixed results. The one I tried came up as restaurant. So at least I got more than 1% on it!

I already have the BCP for groceries and the NRA Visa for gas, so it's the only 2% category that made sense for me.
