I am AU on a few of my wifes credit card accounts. I am wondering if removing myself as AU will improve my average account age or will it have no impact?
It will have an effect if you have them completely removed from your CR's, which can be done by writing a plain worded letter to the creditor requesting so, along with your personal identifying information.
You can request the AU account be closed, but that will not guarantee that it will be removed from your CR's, since "closed" accounts will affect your AAoA.

If the account still shows on the report then no impact but if you can get the whole tradeline removed then I would assume you may see some results.

Closed accounts are still factored into Fico

Which is exactly what I said, but having it completely removed from a report would result in a boosted AAoA.

How do you know that.? Depending on the AU accounts, it could lower his AAoA.

OP is asking if the removal will improve his AAoA, which implies a younger account. My response was in context

Yes i do have a longer credit history then my wife so if i remove my self as AU and somehow convince the lenders to remove the accounts from my report that should give me a boost, is what i'm understanding.
Now not sure how easy it will be to convince lenders to remove closed AU accounts from my CRs. Anyone have success experience in this area?
