I got my first credit card, Quicksilver back in Feburary 2023, and then a second card, Savor one, in August. I also have a Cred Ai but that is not really a credit card... does that count toward Chase 5/24 rule? Anyhow, I really want to get a general use 2% card and a good visa for costco use. My main spend is gorcery, take out and some online shopping Here is what i was thinking and want to hear opinion on my odd
Chase Freedom unlimited, started both checking and saving for that nice $900 bonus. I have $15,000 depositin the saving, think i have a decent shop at it? the $200 bonus and the 5% gorcery and 5% gas is nice.
Well Fargo Active Cash. Started a checking account with them to build a relationship
Elan Max cash: One of my local bank that I bank with use Elan
Fidality: I have decent amount of money in the T-bill account
AAA advanatge: Really want this but might wait till my 1 year mark
Redstone: Really want this but might wait till my 1 year mark
hmm...
do you know what your scores are?
utilization?
cred.ai would count for a new account but not an inquiry. (isnt that the unicorn card? I got one cause it's cool and free haha)
if it were me, I'd wait til Dec/Jan. You just opened a card in Aug lol.
you'd get approved for a chase card easily I think as long as your 700'ish BUT... if you keep opening cards, your limits wont have time to grow and youll just keep getting limits less than 2000 imo.
Much better to start off with a card with a decent limit (like 10k-20k) thank keep getting baby limits.
Well, part of the reason why i want another new card is to help with utilization. My Experian score is 706. My quicksilver is $1,100 and Savor one is $2,000. My monthly usage is roughly $900-$1,100, so 30%, i know it is not ideal lol but no choice. You don't want to know my utilization when quicksilver was my only card. And yes, Credit.ai us the unicron metal card and it does help with utilization. I am pre approved for American Express blue preferred, which is nice for the 6% gorcery but Chase also have 5% gorcery and gas first year as sub and it is free.
I am fine with december, just need to keep using my quicksilver to buy costco shop card which can get annoying. The question would be which card should i try to grab when the time come.... I don;t really travel so chase is only ok at normal 1.5% but the bonus is nice.

Since you want a Visa, I guess either Chase Freedom card would be great, if you can get it.
when I was first getting into Prime cards, Amex BCE/BCP was my favorite! I shopped a lot at Whole Foods to get that 6% back. Go for amex when the time comes. my first amex was the BCE IIRC 3500 approval with 696 TU FICO 08 then got it to 10,500 after 61 days then at 181 days instantly increased to 24,500 (my request).
good luck!

Isn't the Flex a mastercard? Or can you request it be a visa?

All of the cards on your list really like to see a year or more credit history I would wait 3-4 months and then try for something FNBO Evergreen would be a good 2% visa that you can use at costco. FNBO is known to be generous with starting limits as well and that should help with your UTI problem. Venmo has a visa that gets 3% at costco and there is no hardpull if denied it would also not be a bad choice for you.
Your currently utilization is a bit high, I would consider making early payments on your capital one cards To prevent a balance from reporting, until you are ready to apply for a new card. (a few months of practice before you need it). Cred.Ai always reports 1% uti so there is no need to report a balance on your other cards there are penalties for too many and no cards reporting a balance. For utilization by reporting a very small balance on only one card you will give yourself the best possible score UTI wise. Doing this is called AZEO, and while it has mixed opinions on it's usefulness long term it is definitely a benefit for 4-6 weeks before planned credit applications.
IIRC, isn't FNBO Geofence nowsday? I am located at Chicago, IL. Also, wasn't there a story where that FNBO give large amount of credit and suddenly drop it to like $500? It might be sometime before I can try for Venmo again. I realize my utilization is quite high, that why i want to get another card to help with it? I was also pre-approvaled for BCP, it is not a visa but it would help with my utilization.

If you apply for BCP right now you will likely end up with a 1k probationary limit not the end of the world but I would wait.
not 100% of the FNBO geofence but Chicago at a Midwest bank is likely okay. /edit Yes FNBO is a little more sensitive to credit exposure than some national banks, but I have had the card for 2 years very little spend and a 25k. Almost everyone that reported getting their limit when pressed admitted carrying balances on several cards, balance transfers and/or credit seeking activity.
For your uti I would just make early payments than worry about getting another 1k credit card, but that is me, and my goals, and preferences may not be the same as yours.

FWIW: if Whole Foods is your major grocery spend (as it is for us), Chase Amazon beats BCP once AF is taken in to account (plus no cap)
