For several months, I was using autopay on my Xfinity account with a linked checking account to qualify for the monthly autopay discount. At the same time, I would prepay the bill using PayPal Bill Pay and a credit card that offers 5% cashback on internet services. Unfortunately, that workaround no longer seems to work. PayPal now throws an error, and it’s no longer possible to adjust the payment date to bypass the issue. A call to PayPal customer service didn’t lead to a resolution either.
Has anyone found an updated method to pay Xfinity with a credit card in advance while still receiving the autopay discount? Some thoughts I had:
I don't know the answer to any of your questions, sorry x3, but..... I like the way you operate!
Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm running into the same issue now. I am looking to get the Chase Ink Business Preferred & Cash in the not-so-distant future and have called and spoken with multiple representatives to get a more in-depth understanding of their system.
Apparently, it seems that they put the kabosh on a lot of workarounds, including the PayPal one which you describe. While I don't know about gift cards, I was curious about your bulletpoint related to manually paying the bill with a CC even with autopay set up. According to the customer service agent, the way they circumvent people from benefiting from this is that when you manually pay your statement with a CC with ACH autopay setup, it will remove the ACH autopay from your account and you will have to re-add it yourself. It then takes 2 billing cycles for the discount to come back into effect after you re-add it. It's important that I say I have yet to try this out and verify for myself, but I could imagine a company like Xfinity doing something like this. Does anyone have experience doing this and know what happens to your autopay settings?
Now I'm doubly confused, as I managed to get a hold of yet another representative to clarify the policy and this time around they told me they wouldn't auto-remove your ACH method and that you can simply manually pay with the ACH set-up and the discount will still stay there. This is very confusing @_@ does anyone have experience trying this out and can speak on it?
It worked. Set auto-pay using a checking account and afterward, pay with a CC.
No Paypal is required.
Worked flawlessly, thank you for the confirmation!
There is an autopay discount at Comcast?
The internet and mobile providers, such as Xfinity, typically give ~$10 discount on autopay, if using "checking account".
By the way, it is a few months that I am using Apple Pay to do several bill payments such as Xfinity, PGE, DMV, etc. and all of them on the CCs that give ~5% on digital wallet (e.g. co-branded US Bank cards). I heard that there might be some virtual GCs that may give 5% on digital wallet. So, in case that we purchase such virtual GCs at high discount, we may save even more on utility bills.
