Yeah got some luv from Target!

I have a Target card with a crappy $300 limit. I just called the customer service number (don't do the automatic because they won't let you do it). I asked to be increased to $700. He said ok, done. Whoo hoo, got my Target card increased!!! Now DON'T use it! I should have asked to increase it to $1000. LOL.

Re: Yeah got some luv from Target!

Congratulations! What number did you call? I've been stuck with a $500.00 limit for a over a year and would like an increase. I've called the automated number in the past with no luck since they increase periodically with reviews.

I called the number on the back of the card. I kept hitting 0 till it said it was transferring me to a customer service rep. I asked and he gave. He sounded like he was in a call center in India though.

Re: Yeah got some luv from Target!

Well, I just called and no luck for me. He hit me with the same old excuse which is they only increase limits with periodic reviews. He told me my account history with them was great but there was nothing he could do. I guess I'll have to wait until they see fit for me to have an increase but I'm happy for you though. Today was defintley your luck day, I think you got the right person.

They told me same thing. I have Target Redcard. Store card, not visa card. CSR said they can not do any thing and CL is generated by computer automatically. I guess, I am stuck with $200 limit for a while. I'll wait another few months and cancel the card if they dont give me CLI.

Re: Yeah got some luv from Target!

how did you request it on a target card, not visa? they say you can't request anymore, only if you have visa... which they won't upgrade me too... still stuck with my $200 from 1999!

Re: Yeah got some luv from Target!

Hi all,

After reading this posting I decided to call the Target Morons.  Sorry, but they are.  Just trying to get through to a live person after calling the 800 number is ridiculous.  The first guy I spoke with was somewhere overseas.  He first told me that my current limit of $500 is as high as it will ever go and that the next step up is a Target Visa.  He said that they review your credit every 6 months.  I told him that I would pay off my $200 balance and just cancel the card then.

He started to panic and said hold on let me check on this for you and see if there is anything that I can do.  He transferred me to someone who was American.  This man said that they review your account and credit history every single month.  Depending on that will depend on if you get upgraded to a Target Visa OR if you get any type of increase on the regular store card.  He said that the Target Visa's start at 1k.  He also said everything is now done by the computer and that they do not do the manual reviews/increases any longer.  So, not sure how missgamecock was able to get the increase but feel lucky!!!

Bottom line... they were not willing to do anything for me even after I said I was cancelling.  I have had the card for over 2 years - started at $200 and have only received one increase of $300.  Oh well, I wanted to get rid of that card anyway.  I will pay it off next week and then cancel.

Also, the American customer service rep told me that they "turn off" the upgrades to the Visa during thr holidays because they do not want to confuse people with sending out new cards.  LOL!

Um, okay.  I think people would appreciate the holiday cheer and maybe it would help them with some gifts.

If you want to punish them, don't close it. Put it in the sock drawer and go buy one spool of thread, mercerized cotton will do, once every 6 monhts. At Walmart. Then PIF it.

edit: oops, store care, so you can only use it at Target, not Walmart. But when you check out with your one spool of thread, be sure to complain loudly and bitterly how much cheaper thread is at Walmart.

Mor than likely , tuning off of the upgrades for the holdays is to encourage customers to use the store cards instore.  Run that balance up and make payments at that interest rate.  Not that the Visa Upgrade is much better.  However, with the Target card you can only run it up at Target.
