We've been told that there's no way we would be able to get any prime credit cards because of our short credit history and, mainly because of the repo reporting on all three credit reports. BUT, our prayers were answered and, today, we were approved for Chase Freedom, USAA Cash Rewards Mastercard, Discover More and our credit union, Credit Union of Southern California approved their Platinum Visa for us --
Chase Freedom and our credit union pulled Experian, USAA pulled Equifax and Discover More pulled Transunion.
I have learned the meaning of "APP SPREE" and what it is to be blessed with "CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE APPROVED" -- without any 7-10 day messages. It was worth the $$ to lift the credit freeze off our CRs for a week.
Truly, credit is definitely a YMMV kind of thing!
Back to the garden I go now wearing a HUGE smile and singing songs of joy
CONGRATS!!
That's quite a haul for one day, congrats
Thank you! We really do feel blessed.
To the OP, keep in mind that no ones credit is exactly the same. You should sometimes take some of the advice with a grain of salt because not everyones situation applies to everyone else.
However glad things worked out for you!
Congrats discernment, whatever you are doing to rebuild is working. Keep it up!

Congrats! What are your limits?
Thank you! Our limits were another HUGE surprise -- everyone gave us $5,000 each. We will be going to bed tonight $20,000 richer in credit. ![]()

Thank you Strepthroat!
We initially funded the secured credit cards with the maximum limits allowed on them. We maxed them out several times during the month but, always kept them paid in full, never carrying a balance on any of them. We've also been playing the utilization game along the way, even though, previous to today, we didn't apply for any credit. We started in September of last year with Capital One, then added USAA and US Bank in October and November, respectively. it took a little while to get used to using the credit cards at first because we've been using debit cards since they first came out. Actually, we still use our debit cards a lot but, the secured credit cards have been given plenty of mileage as well. I think the secret, if there is one, is just to keep the credit cards paid off -- at least -- that's what has worked for us.
That's awesome! I know you've been mega-rebuilding (like, ready for great credit) for some time now. That's where I was for a long time - wondering why I wasn't hired when I met all the qualifications, so to speak. It's great to be in the "real credit" world, isn't it??
