You wonder why I don't get along with Comenity ?

About 2 weeks ago I closed my BJ's Perls Plus Mastercard mainly because Comenity has continued to screw up the transfer from Barclays for this Card.

With Barclays I had steady CLI's and NO issues, with Comenity taking over the card last October (2015) it's been nothing but one screwup after another. In October I received my "perks plus" card from Comenity to replace my Barclays version, but on the back of the card the BJ's member number was blank and everytime I tried to use it I'd get the message that my membership had expired (actual exp date 1.31.15). So the work around was to continue to use my old membership card and then use the BJ's card to pay - okay I can deal with that.

Personel at BJ's said contact Comenity, which I did, they said we had some issues with early cards, as soon as you use your card at a BJ's we'll match it up with your membership number and issue you a new card. I said okay I'll wait and in maybe late November a new card showed up with a membership number on the back. Fixed the problem right? NO, they used an old account number that was in my name (with wife as associate user) that expired in 2009 so I continued to use the BJ's membership card and then pay with the BJ's Perks card.

One of the benefits of having a BJ's Perks Plus MC is that they give you a $10 credit when you renew your annual BJ's membership ($40 rather than $50), so come January I tried to renew and you guessed it, no $10 credit. I talked to BJ's, both the store manager and corporate, they said talk to Comenity because there was no way to over ride it in the store. I wrote Comenity and said you are using the wrong account number, the current one was opened in 2011 in my wife's name (primary) and my name as co-member (we got a special one year free membership in 2011 for some reason - I don't really remember the details - so we used the wife's name as primary as a new member). Comenity said okay we'll reissue a new card with the account number you just gave us - this was mid-January - I said the membership expires in 2 weeks, I need to renew ASAP.

February 1st, no card, no way to renew and get the discount, March 1st same story but being more than a little PO'd I wrote BJ's corporate again and explained the situation and said I really want to renew my membersip but this is just not right - I never had an issue with Barclays. BJ's corporate wrote back and after saying sorry several times, said they'd had some "conversion" issues with Comenity (NS!) and said we are going to send you a $25 gift card for your trouble - I said thank you and used the gift card to renew my membership.

I also wrote Comenity and said cancel this card, I have no use for a BJ's card that does not function as promised or a issuer that promises to fix it and 2 months later still hasn't. Got the usual bla bla you'll want this card and please apply again if you change your mind - card was canceled, no looking back.

Today, March 14th, I get a new Comenity issued replacement BJ's Perks Plus Card Mastercard in the mail with the correct account number on it - 2 weeks after I canceled the card and 2 months after I contacted Comenity about the problem with the account number and renewing my membership. No, I have no intention of reopening this card.

Nope....

Best thing about this card was 10 cents a gal off gas at the pump, and BJ's gas is the cheapest in town (helps to have a Sams's, Costco and BJ's all within a mile of each other) so an extra 10 cents off on an already good price was what more than paid for the membership. With my now renewed membership I can buy gas at members price, but I use a 5% back gas credit card now - works out to 11 cents a gal today, but that changes - the 10 cents off at the pump just kind of seemed pretty cool every time I filled up. I also have a Sam's MC which kicks back on their gas prices too (no Costco, don't care for Costco).
