I don't hate any of my current creditors, I have CCs with Amex. BoA, Barclays, Capital One, Synchrony, and appreciate what each of them does for me in their different ways.
But one previous creditor I really hate is Chase, I will never do business with them again, and I imagine the feeling is mutual for them. I went through a BK7 in 2010, loss of income from the 2008 recession + large uninsured medical bills. I had been using checks from one CC to make minimum payments on others, trying to put off the inevitable, so my attorney made me wait 90 days to file so those check payments couldn't be excluded, but told me to stop paying anyone.
So 90 days of no payments to anyone, and Chase was the absolute worst, nastiest creditor. Dozens of calls daily from their offshored collection center in India with fake caller IDs so I couldn't tell it was them. Always demanded immediate payment to my bank account on record, I'd tell them if I had the money in the bank account I'd pay them & hang up. Well, what do you expect when you offshore collections to a third world country where the employees probably get a commission on the amount they collect? Dozens of attempts to debit the account. Luckily my attorney had advised me to close all bank accounts & open a new one that no one knew about. So all I got was mailed notices from the bank of the attempt to charge it. Since the account was closed they couldn't charge me anything, but if I had kept it open I would have been hit with hundreds of dollars in overdraft charges. Sorry to learn that you're so scapped for cash that you can't afford to hire honest Americans to do you collection dirty work for you, Chase.
To add insult to injury, Chase also mailed notices with large letters on the outside of the envelop stating: "We'll settle for $Xxx.xx". I live in a small town with a single mail carrier who loves to gab, so word got around quickly that I was in financial trouble..
Thanks a bunch, Chase! And don't worry, I'll never app for anything from you ever again. Well, except for that checking account I opened a year or so ago for the $300 new account bonus and then closed the account as soon as the minimum period was over. That lowered the score down a bit in my favor.
Dislike Discover the most of any of my current creditors. Other cards are 15k+ medium CL high a few at 35k then Discovers are the lows at 2.25k and 4.5k and no movement. They just don't make any sense how they pass out limits to people or whom get CLI's. I can't really say they are hateful, they just don't like me and in-turn don't like them bac and they will remain in my safe unused with exception for every 6 months.
I dislike Capital One. I've been a customer for 20 years and have never had a single credit line increase, I have a 26.24% APR that they will not lower, they don't offer me balance transfers (except the "no fee, just pay your normal purchase APR of 26.24%" variety), and they are the only lender that has turned me down for a new credit card application in at least a decade. High income, flawless payment history on every account for decades, 8+ years AAoA, sufficient scores, and denied while they hand out high starting lines and CLIs to tons of people with recent credit issues. It makes no sense and offends me. Hate is too strong of a word, I just don't see any reason to attempt to nurture the relationship.
Chase and Citi both did the balance chasing thing to us and BOA did the rate jacking years back when the markets crashed, but have been pretty good for us since our utilization got back under control (in BOA's case, exceptionally good to us).
I'm also somewhat annoyed with Discover's glacial pace of CLIs (and initial SL of only $2500) on my it card since I really want to use the card for balance transfers.
I also burned Cap 1 when I was 18 for about $500 which tanked my scores plus medical debt of upwards of 50k from emergency surgeries I had to have like a week after I was kicked off of my parent's insurance because I was working and not in college. And Cap 1 is the first Credit card company that approved me for a new card even after I burned them. I don't understand why they gave me a lifeline but they did and I am thankful for it.

My experience with Discover is that they like to see usage to justify a CLI. I got a $4k SL and used it heavily the first year with double points, within 14 months my CL had doubled to $8k. But after the double points my usage dropped significantly - 1% rewards doesn't cut it for me, and the 5% categories only work for me once or twice a year. Gas is the most used 5% category, but even then with a 40mpg car & a 10 minute commute to work gas isn't a big spend category for me. They turned me down for a CLI for the first time a month or so ago, saying there wasn't enough "experience" at my current CL ($10.6k).Yeah, I've only been charging a hundred or so a month, and half of that is cash back at small grocery store purchases so I don't have to use an ATM, Amex BCE w/3% rewards gets my real grocery store purchases.

I kinda agree and disagree.. I was giving them some decent usage of 300-500 a month not huge, but more than others with say 20k+ cl's with them and they give far less usage. Really the discover "train" has de-railed whether it has to do with recent up-tick in their charge offs or other reasons most people aren't seeing any CL's except a few, more are seeing not enough experience response. The double cash-back is over with and during the first year I pumped a decent amount through it and they started me with a 1k lline which is now at 4.5k. Still pretty bad compared to others with lets say less clean profiles, but also have less credit than myself. I have a fairly high income which just doesn't make sense for my SL and even my limit now. I am not going to use a card simply to try to get a CLI when I have other cards that spank discover w/regards to rewards whether it is the CSR or PenFed 2% card, etc... I rarely use their 5% cats either as possibly double up with my Freedom as value UR's way more than just regular cash as they are equivalent or more. We all know some creditors like some and don't like others and Discover happens to be one that doesn't really want my business as the CL is useless to me for a big purchase or a BT. I accept it and if the 5% benefits me will use otherwise will remain dormeant
Hey there AJC! Yeah, it's really disgraceful how they're handling the recovery efforts. Hopefully they'll figure it all out soon. The Mayor of San Juan seems to be a force to be reckoned with. I thought this before the storm and now she's truly showing that she'll fight for her constituents.
