Hello Everyone,
I know there's a ton of posts that come around about people getting approved, but I cannot tell you enough how excited I am I got approved. I went from a few years ago to bad, bad credit scores to not wanting to open my mail and face the fact I had a crappy situation to really hunkering down and taking control of my finances. To give you an idea My TU is 674 (myFico), EQ: 655, and EX: (634-713 on some FAKO sites). I'm 99% I can get into NFCU (since my dad was in the Navy), so I just wanted 1 credit card (ideally AMEX) before I got one of NFCU cards. Right now I have a GAP card ($500 limit), Capital One $1500 limit, BBRZMC $300 limit (never increased ), and two AU BOA $9800 limit and BB Store Card $3500 limit.....and to boot my util were about 65%. I took a flyer and now (besides joining NFCU) I'm going to garden like there's no tomorrow. : )
But, I did want to thank myFICO for all of the great information. I've honestly, truly learned more on my own in the past 2 months than I did in 10 years of watching my parents screw up their credit. : ) But, now I'm in the AMEX club : )
Thanks again everyone.
Congrats! I got approved for the Zync today, myself. It's pretty exciting to know you're steadily growing your credit score and gettting a good handle on your finanaces, isn't it?
When you were approved for your CapOne card, was your opening CL $1500, or did you have to work up to it? If so, how long did it take? I have a Platinum CapOne with a CL of $750, started out at $500. I've had it for nearly 18 months now, and honestly I'm a little frustrated it's still at $750 when I have other prime cards with much higher limits.
I never actually asked for a CLI. When I was approved for the card, I was enrolled in a "credit program." I had a $1000 CL, and said on my 7th statement they would increase my limit to $1500. My 7th statement is coming up, so I'm thinking of calling and seeing if I can get it bumped up to $2000+ before it "automatically" goes up. Other than that, realistically I don't expect it go much above $1500. Besides,if I'm getting in good with NFCU and get some decent cards my Cap1 will be history in a couple years anyways. Just keep as a tradeline for the time being.
But, congrats too! IMO, for some people who've always had good credit, it might not be a big deal, but for others just getting going these things are a big deal. : ) I have two kids and we're looking to buy a house in a couple years, so getting some cards now and gardening for awhile is awesome.
Good luck, too!
Congrats on your Zync! (both of you )
It maybe time to retire that BBZMC, just because of the AF.
Sounds like a story similar to mine..
I know and can share how you are feeling cause I got a zync in april of last year and I could not believe it.
Congrats!
Forgive my ignorance (and I've already checked the common abbreviations sticky thread), but what are BBZMC and AF? Guessing that BB means some sort of Best Buy card?
Thanks!
Oh, sorry. BBRZMC = Best Buy Reward Zone Mastercard. AF usually refers to Annual Fee unless someone might be referring to something else.

Awesome, thanks! I'm still learning all the lingo here.
