Ok so, in June I called AMEX about paying off old debt from when I had been sick. I didn't know how much it was exactly, just thought it was the right thing to do and told them so. At the time they offered me an optima as a way to "regain cardmembership"... for reasons that I've already divulged in another post I felt a bit uncomfortable with that since I didn't really need more credit, just appreciated the travel services and such that they offered a lot from my previous card in 2002. You know, stuff that wasn't available with the optima offer. They had also always been extremely good to me also while I had the card. I don't know if it's the same now but hopefully.
Anyway, I told them at the time to feel free to mail the application and I would consider it in order rebuild my history with them if they weren't able to approve me for any of their regular offerings. It was maybe an ill advised maneuver to apply for a card, but my credit report shows meticulate responsibility over the past 3 years and then the only baddies are the result of a thieving consolidator paying late (they actually stole over $400 from me).. before and after perfectly clean. Anyway, I apped for a zync on the 25'th and ended up in a long line of manual reviews. Came back today approved. I was rather surprised actually. The approved message online stated that the card would arrive in 7-10 days. That could be a problem since I'm taking a trip to Florida to visit fam at the end of next week and will be gone for a full week. I called customer service and the lady told me that if the card hadn't arrived they would reissue a card and deliver when I returned. I'd like to use the premium rental car service as it's a way better deal than hertz offers so it'd be ok if it didn't arrive sooner but better if it did of course. How long has it taken for you?
