I owe almost 5k with a limit of 10k on the chase card and then other balances too so that doesnt help. I then stated that I could pay 3000 over the phone immediately. That got their attention so now the card is open and I basically only owe 2000 so chase is happy and im happy. It will be my gas card basically and other little stuff until I pay more stuff off but im happy they reconsidered.
Forgot to mention, from what chase stated to me carrying a balance is usually not a problem and people do it all the time. They basically said credit cards are there for that when needed. The problem for me came in when I carried a balance, spent some more, carried more balance, and spent some more, carried even more of a balance with no sign of slowing down while spending more on it.
And there you have it!

See people. Nothing wrong with letting balances report.
Exactly.
The 1-9% reporting isn't necessary unless you are planning a car/home purchase in the next 30 days.
Feel free to OCD about it if you must... but I don't lose sleep over losing 4 FICO points because I took advantage of a 0% promotion and bought a $2000 TV.

I am happy you were able to get your account opened....

I'm sorry but I feel people put too much emphasis on making sure 1-9% util reports every month. I've just never worried about that and I have $175k in credit. In fact I've never had util lower than 10% reporting when I acquired any of my accounts. And it was never a hinderance. But I guess to each its own.
+1000
We have a winner.
When I got my Amex ED card at 10k I had 25% utilization report I believe... After tons of new approvals, CLI's etc.. On TU I have around 4% and EQ/EXP around 10% due to a Collection/Charge off account in the sum of 6k that reports each and every month to EX/EQF. That is another story what the heck I am going to due with that settle or hope it falls off one day before they slap a judgement on me. 4 years old ugh.
The only one making a big deal about it is the one who asked the last question.
No one in recent posts has mentioned your payment habits, period.
